CBC's "Toxic Legacy of 911" Absolutely A1 journalism.
Tonight, CBC Newsworld will air "The Toxic Legacy of 911", a carefully laid out in-depth expose of the toxic consequences of 911. This is a show that OUGHT to have been produced by an American news network. The fact that a Canadian news programme produced this show speaks volumes about the American media. Volumes.

It is jaw-dropping, precise, compelling, heart-wrenching and informative. The incompetence and wilful neglect of this issue by the adminstration and the NYC political bosses is on the scale of Katrina.

The complete transcript of the show as well as video clips can be found at

4. You'd be welcome anytime:)
I posted this because the story is so well documented and stuff I had never seen.

For instance I was stunned that NYC was telling residents to use wet rags to clean their apartments. And also incomprehensible is that the Pentagon clean-up crew were completely suited up for a toxic clean-up but they faced NONE of the "hundred of known and still to-be-identifed chemicals" that were present in NYC.

And more incomprehensible is that NYC is automatically denying ALL 911 health related claims made by emergency workers! This is unbelievable.

"The city has a standard policy right now that if you claim anything 9/11 related they deny it automatically," says Bill Dahl. The city will not discuss how it handles compensation cases, but Bill Dahl thinks his medical expenses from 9/11 which cost over a thousand dollar a month should be covered by workers compensation. While the fire department thinks Dahl is sick enough from his service at Ground Zero to get a full disability pension, the City Law Department doesn't. "The latest is our doctors say there's nothing wrong with you. Hello. I got seven of my own doctors not including the three doctors from the employee retirement system that have said I am disabled from 9/11. Let alone there's nothing wrong with me, I'm disabled from 9/11."

In the conclusion of the report a question is raised that given how horribly injured police, firefighters, EMS workers have been treated, who is going to respond come the next attack?

11. I am still reading it and it is just horrifying!
<snip>

Because of the urgency of the task, OSHA, the federal agency responsible for workplace safety, did not invoke their usual enforcement procedures and left it to the contractors to ensure respirators were worn. Suzanne Mattei says, "There was this culture of casualness about the toxins at Ground Zero. And so if somebody said: golly, gee, should the workers wear protective equipment, EPA would say: of course; OSHA would say: of course. But nobody enforced it."

Two years after 9/11 an investigation by the EPA Inspector General found agency statements had been rewritten by the White House council on Environmental Quality to “add reassuring statements and delete cautionary ones.” At the time of the September 18th air is safe to breath announcement, the Inspector General found more than a quarter of their samples showed unsafe levels of asbestos and there were no results for PCBs or dioxins. The report concluded the announcement was made “without sufficient data to make such a blanket statement.” The Inspector General also found other considerations including the desire to reopen Wall Street had influenced the statements.

Hugh Kaufman, a senior analyst at the EPA, says, "If there's a battle between economic interests and the health of firemen and policemen, it's a no brainer. The economic interests trump the health of firemen and policemen every time."

... THIS is bush's and repuke's america! :grr:

5. The wife and I watched the entire thing yesterday on CBC
It is a riveting documentary in the old sense, well planned and executed and filmed. Easy to watch and it sucks you in, you HAVE to watch the entire thing.
We swore yesterday we wouldn't watch any gratuitous 9/11 programs, but this one is excellent, and we both rely on the CBC for our REAL news, being close to the border we get it on our cable system, thank GOD for large favors!
A "must-see" if ever there was one to come out of all this phoney eulogizing, MOST highly recommended.

9. I also completely avoid gratuitous 911 programming. They annoy
me not simply because they are gratuitous (though that is reason enough) but they also IMO simply give terrorists an ego boost. Bin Laden & company musst be beside themselves in glee everytime they hear "how 911 changed the world", "how America will never be the same", "how American lives have changed since that fateful day". The list is endless. What more could any terrorists want?

In CBC's other story called the "Secret War that lead to 911", someone in the intelligence community said in an interview that terrorism is actully an annoyance, that terrorists themselves can't bring down modern nation states. IMO that is what needs to be repeated.

24. Kerry tried to emphasize the point about trying to reduce
terrorism to the point where it's an annoyance, and the Freepers went apeshit over it. God forbid their lust for perpetual war was actually proven to be a complete fantasy...

10. The dilema..
Moving to Canada sounds like a great idea. It would be so nice to be among friends and away from this nasty government mess..

But I feel I must try to stay thru 2006 and 2008 elections before bailing ship.

How long does it take to officially "move" to Canada and become a citizen there?

I am still hoping my husband takes a job that will transfer us there. It is our best bet. We were in CA this past summer checking out property. I am dead serious about getting my children out of here.

16. I'm close enough to the border I could get across....
Just by driving up to any number of spots and walking over. The Border Patrol is pretty heavy around here, but they're for stopping people from coming in, not going out.
If things got bad we could make it, if they didn't throw us back, that is.

30. I think Howard Dean should be jumping all over this.
The fact that ratboy and his rethugs have abandoned emergency workers leaving the injured heroes to rot and while rotting having to fight to get health coverage is a moral abomination. (Only recently was $10 million approved to cover health costs but that money will run out in 3 years.)

Freepers should have this travesty shoved in their faces. Let them justify their beloved ratboy's betrayal of American heroes.

and one of the premier organizations in the world. It's one of the best reasons to live here.

This ran on CBC News: Sunday, Sept 10: 9/11: Truth, Lies and Conspiracy. From the broadcast, here is a transcript of an interview with Lee Hamilton. I don't think he's faced these kind of questions from American media. The show also interviewed David Ray Griffin.

33. I thought that they outdid themselves with these recent 911 reports.
Its a pity that they don't make the entire video available on the web, given that CBC is not readily available in the US. This particular group of stories would certainly raise awareness of CBC Newsworld, might even force US cable companies to offer it.

28. Especially given the fact that a "hurricane force" compression wave
was generated by the collapse. You would think that given the blanket coverage media gives to hurricanes, a man-made hurricane would have caught their attention, especially a hurricane filled with toxins.
