If you believe in prayer, please say one for your Canadian neighbours.
Especially the ones who are inclined to vote for this guy's party tomorrow.

Thank you.

Good grief. I'll pray for you! As long as you don't have Diebold you have a better chance then us probably.

13. Thanks, FA82!
We actually had Diebold machines at our civic elections (my polling station anyway) but I believe there's no such presence at the federal level.

and I hope more practical steps are being taken to stop this from happening as well. What do the latest polls say? I cringe for your country. I have always admired Canadians and find all of this very hard to believe.

5. The polls are too close to call.
Although there's been some armchair analysis in the Canada forum. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=190

Frankly, I don't get it either. The Liberals haven't really earned their laurels for a long time, though. My feeling is that many Coservative votes will be cast as punishment for the Liberals, more than as an embrace of Harper and his posse.

Still, the "cure" would be worse than the disease in that case.

14. Did you see "60 Minutes" tonight?
Your Alberta sand/oil fields have become important. I do think our operatives have been working on your voters, like they did with ours, convincing them that the conservatives have a better plan.

I do beg you to not let what has happened to us happen to you. If your elections are still honest, I believe it won't.

25. My fear is Canada will go down like Austrailia - corporatist take-over
whether anyone votes for them or not. All my daughter's Aussie pals say they don't know ANYONE who voted for Howard last time, but somehow he managed a win?

Me thinks the corporations have taken over everywhere. There are no more nations. National identity and local law are the new Circus... just a show to amuse the peasants and keep them from noticing what is goin down.

50. Preferred Candidate: Jack Layton, New Democratic Party (NDP)
Jack Layton's statement from yesterday:
Voting for the change you want
Sun 22 Jan 2006

On Monday, Canadians will vote for change. I'm writing to urge you to vote for the change you want — change that works for working families.

This time, that means voting NDP. You can trust New Democrats to put working families first. And on Tuesday, NDP MPs will be on the job, fighting for you.

New Democrats have laid out our plan:

* We’ll look after seniors and create opportunity for young people.
* We’ll stop privatization and make public health care better.
* We’ll clean up government and the environment.
* We’ll put working families first, where they belong.

With more New Democrats on your side, we can get the job done.
