Kids Survive Alleged 5-Year Imprisonment

RENO, Nev. - Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says he's amazed by the survival of two emaciated children who say they were locked in an apartment bathroom and starved for the past five years.

When the siblings were found Thursday, the 16-year-old girl weighed about 40 pounds, and her 11-year-old brother weighed about 30 pounds. The pair were in stable condition Sunday at a hospital, while their grandmother, mother and the mother's boyfriend were in jail.

"The little girl appeared to be a Holocaust victim," Furlong told The Associated Press. "There's no meat or muscle whatsoever. We're talking absolute starvation. It was the same thing for the little boy."

Deputies were led to the home after someone reported seeing an 8-year-old girl pushing a shopping cart full of food within a block of the sheriff's office. It turned out to be the 16-year-old girl, who told deputies she was running away because she had been locked in a bathroom at night or when adults left the apartment.

I hope there is a special place in hell for people such as that.....

as the father of two of the most beautiful people to ever grace this earth, (my boy and my daughter), I can not see how ANYONE could EVER do this to children. I know that there are alot of DU'ers that are against the death penalty, even I can't see the sense of it most of the time. But to do this to children, the only true innocents on this planet, all I can say is FUCK EM. And yes, I would do the deed myself and have NO regrets. The only thing that is sacred in this world is our youth

be such a terrible sort of justice...for one thing it might make them aware of the suffering they themselves inflicted.

still, i don't endorse the death penalty on principle of the gov't inabiity to guarantee it never executes the innocent. also think it sets a bad precedent as to the value of life. also due to the fact that the quality of justice is more easily measured by the size of one's bank book than the evidence at trial.

For much, much longer. What in the hell is wrong with these people??

No mercy for people like that. None. Murder is heinous, this may be worse. These kids have to live with this forever. Congrats to that young lady for having the moxie to stay alive. Guess the survival instinct is stronger than the evil things who tried to kill them.

I canot imagine the evil these people represent.

Bill lets adults sue over child porn

Adults whose images have been used for child pornography on the Internet will be allowed to sue for damages under bipartisan legislation introduced in the Senate this week.
The bill, dubbed "Masha's Law" for a Russian orphan who was sexually exploited by her American adoptive father, also would boost civil damages from $50,000 to $150,000.
"It's really a sad statement that we have tougher penalties for downloading music than for downloading sick images of infants and children," said the bill's author, Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat.
