I hear you bush lovers who are so stuck up bush's ass that you call into cspan and agree with bush one hunert percent, I hear you calling the Geneva Convention old and worn out, I hear you call all Muslims terrorists and I hear you calling for them to be tortured with impunity simply because they don't wear uniforms, I hear you saying that its just fine to torture prisoners of war, I hear you.

Don't fucking come whining to me when they torture and mutilate little Johnny Smith without fear, and on camera, don't come whining to me.

3. This is what a lot of people just don't get.
If we don't abide by the Conventions, then why should other countries? It is an extremely dangerous thing to even think about.

4. And stop bringing up how savage terrorists are while they're at
it. The repugs who get behind this torture are no better.

7. It already has. 2 of our guys were tortured & beheaded
probably the wrong guys too, they were in revenge for the troops who tortured, raped and murdered the 14 year old girl and her family.

9. That line of reasoning isn't going to fly
The guys beheaded in Iraq weren't murdered to protest torture at secret prisons. We don't accept sawing off civilians heads as a legitimate response to grievances. It's not a sane or rational response and we can never, ever, attempt to justify that type of action.

Prisoners shouldn't be subjected to torture under our aegis because it's not an effective way of obtaining good intelligence and because we're better than that.

Rights Groups Blast UNESCO for Awarding Uzbek President

Created: 14.09.2006 12:35 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 13:38 MSK

MosNews

UNESCO’s decision to award Uzbek President Islam Karimov the “Borobudur” gold medal has caused criticism of several international rights organizations who consider Karimov a gross violator of human rights, Radio Free Europe reports.

UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura personally gave Karimov the award in Tashkent on September 8 for the Uzbek president’s contribution to “strengthening friendship and cooperation between the nations, development of cultural and religious dialogue, and supporting cultural diversity.” Rights organizations have long branded Karimov a gross violator of human rights. They say that any international award to the Uzbek leader is inappropriate and that the UNESCO decision was not only wrong but runs contrary to stated UN policies.

Freedom House and Human Rights Watch are leading the campaign against the UNESCO decision.

Veronika Szente-Goldston, Human Rights Watch’s advocacy director for Europe and Central Asia, expressed her organization’s shock at news of the award in comments to RFE/RL’s Uzbek Service. “We think that this is absolutely scandalous,” she said. “When we first saw the announcement we thought that it must be a bad joke.”
