C-span 2....Byrd blaming Administration...mine safety
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 11:17 AM by berner59
Appropriations hearing on mine safety...

Wondering why it took so long to get help there...and why miners had one 1 hr of an oxygen device... Setting up the story for hopefully a wam bam finish of bashing Bush for cutting funding... Go Byrd!!

Repeating the fact that for 4yrs of cuts have resulted in this tragedy...he said Bush called him to ask if anything can be done and Byrd said "yes - stopping cutting funding for mine safety!!!"

3. Bush's answer
would have to imply it was not his fault and that Congress shares the responsibility blah blah. Mostly duck and run and vow never to call Byrd again ever.

14. DeWine just remembers that Ohio has miners too.
He's discovered the working man again. Now someone make him go back and eat all the budget cutting ranting he does.
