Yeah, look at this beauty...Not a scratch on it anywhere...brand new tires...clean as a whistle. Look at those leather seats...It's got AM-FM and air-conditioned too. Oh, those girls will love you when you drive by in this beauty! It's a one owner and he treated it like a baby...We were going to ask a $1000 dollars more but just for you, because we have to make room for another car, we'll let you have it today at this bargain basement price. You're getting a real deal...

4. We ignored De Tocqueville
He famously stated that in order to make a republic (and not an aristocracy or a monarchy) you need to tax the estates of the wealthy and create a free press.

We - or, more specifically, the horrible think tanks formed by wealthy conservatives and the politicians who listen to those fake thinkers - ripped away the estate tax, the high taxes on the wealthy, and the Fairness Doctrine. This allowed both immense pools of money and control of the media to settle on the wealthiest of Americans, who can now twist the body politic with a few days of Fox News and a few dozen expensive ad purchases for organizations like the Swift Boat liars.

7. Exactly!
I think that fake think tanks are a greater danger to our society than most of the gibberish that the 24-hour news channels claim to be nascent disasters.

5. Until you find out it burns oil like there's no tomorrow....
Every minor repair costs three times as much the original estimate, and the radio only gets country and western.

The tires that appeared new are actually recaps from an older model, and now you're in danger of losing your job because it's not nearly as reliable as stated.

That Mehlman's quite a car salesman though, he can talk the party faithful into a new model next year, that'll be just like the old one.
