Poll question: Ok DU, Please Take Part In This Straightforward And Fair Poll. Re:Chavez
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 07:54 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
Please vote below your personal view on Hugo Chavez. It is a standard scale of 1-5 with 1 being 'very negative' and 5 being 'very positive'.

Just want to gauge the overall community mix. Thanks in advance for your participation.

25. I'd be interested in that, also. Afterall BushCo** did try a coup on
Chavez's behind in April '02, and if I were in his shoes I might have some hard feelings, too. Then Dimson** launches an illegal war, killing thousands of innocent Iraqi's and the world is leary of him, or hates his guts, and no one, no one is supposed to say anything questionable about him?

28. No, idiotic whole-hog swallowing of corporate media propaganda is the
REAL black mark on the DU community.

The uninformed/misinformed people who parrot the "Chavez is a thug" line without having done the least bit of research into the FACTS of his presidency and the Bolivaran Revolution that he has set in motion are the real black marks.

I am ashamed that so many DUers are such willing dupes to mainstream corporate propaganda.

31. It's a black mark on the democrats who are denouncing him.
Their impotence is exposed and perhaps their egos are hurting. Chavez showed what opposition to these villians in the whitehouse looks like and the world cheered him.
American's should be ashamed of their government and their politicians (atleast if the whole freakin' worlds' opinion is any indication). We can do better. If we can't do better, we deserve the scorn of the international community.

We need more progressive progressives and more democratic democrats.

Let's not support treating the U.N. like a primary school playground, irregardless of who is doing the name-calling.

Own up to your history and you'll learn you have no choice. The United States has made itself Venezuela's - and all of Latin America's - problem for more than a century. Chavez represents the spearhead of the solution.

Right wing talking point anyone?

Hugo Chavez is doing a lot better running Venezuela than the neocons are this country.

If you base your displeasure of Chavez on three reports vs 50 pages of reports then I see your point which is lame.

http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-usa/index link added so you can go through 50 pages of 50 complaints per page.

and soon to be one around the World..

He fights for the common man, therefor he is ostracized.

Moderates will never be for him as you can see here by the negative responses... They bought the propaganda...

He's also a dark skinned Hispanic... I wonder if that has something to do with the negative attitued towards him... Ummmm

Heart is in the right place and he is trying to do great things for his people, but some of the stuff he's doing in order to achieve good means is difficult to defend at times. Not like bush, who's means are well beyond defensible and whose ends frankly don't make any sense.
