What if bu$h were to declare a recess War on Iran?

Congress goes into recess in a couple of weeks and will not reconvene again until December when the new Congress is sworn in.

What would stop the monster in the white house from declaring war on Iran during a recess? We all know that technically needs congressional declaration to attack. But if he did it during a recess???

Here is what made me think of this...
1. All the talk about an October surprise that supposedly KKKarl Rove has in store for us.

2. bu$h is famous for taking action on recess that he normally could not get through during a regular session of his rubber stamp congress.

The 90 days clause - start the war, then hope they can get approval after the war starts - they can definately get approval then, probably, from a congress scared to look unpatriotic (even if we get a Democratic congress).

But technically he cannot declare war, that right still belongs to the US Congress, for now at least.

He can use the War Powers Resolution to order an attack on Iran.

"The War Powers Resolution (Public Law 93-148) limits the power of the President of the United States to wage war without the approval of Congress. The Resolution is also referred to as the War Powers Act of 1973. The Resolution is sometimes erroneously referred to as simply the War Powers Act, but that is an older law intended to define limits on trade with enemies during wartime."

Now this Resolution allows the president to consult with Congress prior to the start of any hostilities as well as regularly until U.S. armed forces are no longer engaged in hostilities.

And we all know what the Bush definition of consulting with Congress means. He'll call Frist, Hastert, and the chairs of specific committees, all who will be Republicans. And they'll pull the same stunt they did when they had the midnight Terri Schiavo vote on the floor of the Senate and the House.

The planes will drop the bombs killing thousands of Iranians that Bush respects so much and make this country the Nazi Germany of the 21st Century. This will be our legacy to our children and grand children.

And guess what folks, if this scenario comes to fruition there won't be a damn thing that anyone here can do about it.
