Jesus Camp ok, tapes of islamic fundies is propoganda though?
Seems like everyone is getting in on the catering business. If we don't like something showing a minority of group doing something bad we yell propoganda, hate speech, etc.

How is it that Jesus Camp is any different in it's message than tapes that exist (or could be made) of islamic fundies?

Are hate crimes against christians going to rise, or does that only happen when we have movies/toons/commentary on other people and faiths?

I tend to be the type of guy who condemns shit no matters who's ass it came from, and try to apply insight in a balanced way across the board.

Some people are in a bad light, and filming them only shows what is really there - but it can (and does) lend credence to those who think all people (or most) of some faith are that way.

Afterall, ain't that what we have been saying here about islam since 9/11? Haven't we been the ones bitching about negative stereotypes?

Rant off. Dinner time.

2. christo-fascists
We should not produce films which stir up muslims, only because we are guests (albeit uninvited) in their countries, and stirring up animosity only makes it more difficult for us to pursue our interests there. Of course, we care about how fundamentalist Islam affects women's and human rights in the region, but ultimately, they're free to do what they want, and our track record of affecting change in the ME is poor.

However, fundamentalist, evangelical Christians are in OUR country, and most of us are sick of the way they've been brainwashed. We're sick of the constant proselytizing, and we're sick of the way they speak in biblical references, and try to use holy scripture to govern every aspect of American life. Yes, we do have to deal with these people. They've been waiting for their day in the limelight for over 30 years, and have been anxious and careful to plan how they'll take over and run the government. And after just 5 years of corporate-christo-fascist rule, they've managed to turn this country, its defenses, economy , tax base, laws and system of government completely upside down.

3. Well, one could argue the jews are behind all that
And some do on various websites. But we don't say it because it promotes hate. Plus, people like me tend to think it's all typical BS.

So when does something promote hate and when does something promote truth? Who draws that line and how?

4. Disgusting
I am a Christian but I find the Jesus Camps disgusting. While Jesus commanded his disciples to preach the Gospel to Gentile and Jew alike, I don't recall him saying he wanted his followers to engage in armed warfare for the faith. I personally believe he thought the power of his message would attract the unconverted, not rifles, martial arts or bombs. As Jesus surely knew those methods are useless if you are attempting to reach a person's inner self. Anyone, threatened with enough torture or pain will profess allegiance or belief to anything, including a grapefruit. But are they converted? No, if anything their opposition for the belief system imposed on them increases.
