Chomsky's 'Hegemony or Survival' scared the hell out of me
While reading the final pages where Chomsky discusses the militarization of space, I noticed that my hands were shaking.

1. Now you understand the true depth of evil these guys possess, don't you?

If you want to make money, then weaponization of space is a good thing. Think of how many hundreds of billions in government defense contracts that will be awarded building war machines that can operate on earth and in space. You could retire as a corporate baron wealthier than 99 percent of the planet.

2. Thanks to Chomsky, yes I do

Since becoming politically aware (as a teenager during the Reagan years) I knew these people were dangerous and insane, but reading "The Essential Chomsky" (a great collection of transcribed lectures) was a major revelation. I've since read several of his books. Chomsky is required reading for anyone who doesn't understand the workings of state-corporate power.

3. wait, they can't do a damn thing about global warming
escept exacerbate it by empowering rightwing extremists who think it's not a problem...same with international cooperation: who will ever cooperate with the usa/britain/israel now? even within our western societies, there is such a level of cynicism that the body politic will not, repeat, will not unite no matter what threatens it (in part, because many of us immediately dismiss outta hand anything the rightwingers say or do)
a couple generations ago, when MAD was a reality, there was a constant effort to build a commonality amongst humanity, cuz it was thought that the global reach of info and technology etc meant there had to be a global reach of shared humanity -in a few years, bush has poisoned the well of goodwill, forever....and that's good
merry fukking christmas, to the bushevik pigs

4. It's funny how HOS is #1 at amazon books and yet
they don't put a picture or mention of it on the frontpage. Instead what you see as a fall "blockbuster" title for non-fiction is Bill 'SexPred' O'reilly's latest bowel movement.
