We need to Stand with our Dems...until we can make the CHANGES we Hope for
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 06:24 PM by KoKo01
I'm as discouraged as many of you about what "appears" to those of us in the "Activist Grassroots" who've been ON THE BATTLEFRONT since "Selection 2000" and "before" when Clinton and Carter were being targeted by the RW FUNDIES and the MELLON-SCAIFE are now seeming to be "cut adrift."

It would seem that our Democrats are so happy to throw the "Grassroots Activists" out to sea in a leaky boat or under the bus and get on with "Business as Usual"
Yet, for the Democrats to ignore their Grassroots Activists would mean that they are NOT Upholding Dem Party Values.

Our Democratic Leadership plays a dangerous game...but we "Grassroots" often don't see the "Forest for the Trees" in that the IMPACT we've made and are continuing to MAKE has INSPIRED A WHOLE NEW GENERATION OF ACTIVISTS!

We don't see these "Grassroots Activists" but they are out there in our STATE RACES involved in finding NEW Democratic LIBERAL ACTIVISTS to couteract the "Old Guard" establishment.

I have to say that I'm as ANGRY at our Dem Leadership in House and Senate as MANY of us who have been here on DU for awhile.

BUT, I don't think we see what we've done as GRASSROOTS because it's not in MSM's INTEREST to TELL US...or the REPUGS or SOME of our DEMOCRATS!

We've got to KEEP ON...at the LOCAL LEVEL...because "ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL" and that's where it begins...but it doesn't hit the MSM until it's HUGE.

HANG IN THERE! I'm as discouraged when I read WaPo and NYT's/LATIMES and the other CRAP the Right and Mainstream Repugs FOCUS ON...but there's GOOD STUFF COMING...it just isn't going to be seen until it BITES THE MEDIA IN THEIR ASSES!

2. Agreed. There's no better, realistic alternative right now...
I think Doris (Granny D) Haddock offers appropriate and balanced perspective with these wise words:

"Part of the problem of the progressive left is that we have fragmented into dozens of organizations, each of which must struggle for funds and email addresses and all the rest. We need to fold ourselves back into the Democratic Party and thoroughly invigorate it. Do not worry that we will cause the Party to marginalize itself. If the Party can base its actions on good science, effective governance, and efficient delivery of the programs the people need, it will prosper across all the left and all the middle of the American political spectrum. But by splitting ourselves off into all these good government organizations we have left the party to the selfish elites, and they don't know how to serve the people or the truth, and that means they do not know how to win." --Doris "Granny D" Haddock

4. Just got home from work...and stuff piled in my mind..I EDITED my OP
for CLARITY. Sorry for those of you who passed it by because I hadn't "fleshed it out." It was a BAD DAY AT WORK...and one shouldn't post when one can't do a good one on the first OP.

Apologize...but I cleaned the Original up for clarity..and hope it will make more sense.

thanks to those who got "something" from the first read about what I was trying to say ...even if it was garbled.
Peace! koko

able to wield power that they will not be voting for crap like that pharma bill, the Patriot Act, another war, the wiretap legislation, and that they will show up to vote on important legislation. I want to see the rhetoric matched with action. I want to know that we can count on them.

5. I can't convince you nor myself of that...but the "More" we can get in
there...then the more we can at least get "some" access to. Right now it does no good to "Fax,Phone,E-Mail" MY State Senators...because they are beholden to the RIGHT WING.

We have to work on building our State Level to move up good DEM JUDGES, STATE Representatives and Senators that we can move forward into DC. The Repugs have been doing this for YEARS.

It's OUR TURN to START LOCAL to BUILD NATIONAL. The Corporatists/Globalists in our Dem Party who NOW RUN THE SHOW...need to be CUT OFF NOW...with a GRASSROOTS PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT that puts NEW VOICES and POWER at their HEELS! In Other Words: THE YOUNG BULLS SHOVE OUT THE OLD ONES who've lost TOUCH with their BASE and are BEHOLDEN TO POWER that doesn't come from BELOW! While we have a few "ELDER BULLS" that we must applaude and listen to as WISE COUNSELLORS, and we should work to KEEP THEM...much of the REST need to GO!!!
