"US denied causing 'disaster' by invading Iraq" -- Yahoo headline!
wow, I didn't see this....

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House begged to differ after UN chief Kofi Annan said Middle Eastern leaders had called the invasion of Iraq "a disaster" for the region.

"I'm not going to engage in a further disputation with the secretary general of the United Nations, but we disagree with the characterization," White House spokesman Tony Snow said, while acknowledging "sectarian violence" in Iraq.

Annan, who recently returned from a trip to the Middle East, made the comment earlier in New York.

Asked what Middle East leaders had told him about their views of the consequences of the US-led war in Iraq, he said: "Most of the leaders I spoke to felt that the invasion of Iraq and its aftermath have been a real disaster for them ... They believe it has destabilized the region."

He added that many leaders wanted the Americans to stay in Iraq until the security situation improves, noting that "having created the problem they cannot walk away."

1. Ah yes, I'm sure the captain of the Hindenburg also disagreed with
the characterization of a "fire" on his vessel...

2. "A war too far"
Iraq was that bridge too far, and we've always known it would end in a rain of tears;
and a hearty thank you to the iraqi people for outsourcing our civil war from us to take
down the most evil american administration in near 100 years. Sorry its destroyed your
country, but the outsourcing was fated by the bush mafia going after daddy's buggers.

8. Fiasco deniers...
My new label for shitheads.
If you can't see that Iraq is a complete fiasco, a bottomless gravepit sucking the lifeblood out of our Treasury, grinding down our techno-dependent manpower-lite military, that will come to no good resolution for our country no matter what we do, since the more we "save" Iraq, the sooner it becomes Iran's potent ally, then you are a shithead and a FIASCO DENIER.

Actually "fiasco denier" is only the polite public form of the real expression used in more enlightened company: Clusterfuck Denier.

10. Look at New Orleans. Then look at Iraq. If New Orleans is a disaster
then Iraq is the biggest disaster ever. The world was stunned when 300,000 died in the tsunami in just a couple of hours. My estimates put the Iraq civilian death toll at that point now. And not a peep anywhere.
