Who do you trust more: Musharraf or Karzai (Afghanistan)?

Both are openly criticizing each other while having dinner with Bush. Musharraf called Karzai an "Ostrich". Karzai blames Pakistan for supporting Taliban. Both hate each other. Bush calls them "Friends" :eyes:

In my opinion, Musharraf is a liar. His country (Pakistan) had destabilized Afghanistan before 2001 by creating Taliban. Under US pressure, Musharraf changed course and stopped supporting Taliban. But Musharraf is back at it again. Pakistan is still training Jihadis in its madrassahs and wants to control Afghanistan by using Taliban.

No wonder Karzai and most Afghanis look at Musharraf and Pakistan with suspicion.

Richard M. Nixon far more than either of those two.

Karzai is the mayor of Kandahar with oil, heroin and cia connections.

Musharraf has a tougher job. He has to play the part of dictator with all his national might under his control, whether it is or not, and try to continue pleasing washington so he is referred to as a president in the US media (while chavez is called a dictator) all the while keeping in mind what happens to puppet dictators when washington has no further use of them. Karzai knows he will be surrounded and protected by SS and blackwater and no matter what happens he has a place to retire and hang out with like minded souls like Ken Lay.

Gaining control of a pipeline from the caspian sea through Afghanistan will be the only long term goal for either of these gentlemen (and I use the term loosely) and they will kill anyone they need to, and allow the killing of their own when need be, to achieve those goals.

Gutting the Al quiada in Pakistan takes a tool out of their bag. One that scares the shit out of the Americans. Taking opium out of Afghanistan takes a tool out of their bag.

Meanwhile our own government allows both of these threats to the American people to exist. They dance around the issues with bright sparkly diversions jockeying for control of whatever outcome and allowing our own to become casualties from the threats, and using those threats to control us.

That whole theory would have sounded a lot more tin foil six years ago wouldn't it?

Karzai is trying to make the best of a very bad situation, and has been betrayed by Bush and is being cut off at the knees by Pakistan.

Musharraf has long ago told Bush he can't get Bin Laden, and Bush has settled for smaller fish.

Karzai is more of a pest to Bush.

My best answer to your question, is that we have more control over Karzai, but I have no opinion on their morals.
