I don't even recognize this country anymore...
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 12:48 PM by Beelzebud
6 years of Republican bullshit, and it is not America anymore.

I'm sitting there reading the paper this morning, and the points being made in the editorial section make me want to puke. Stuff like this: "If torture is so wrong, then shouldn't we all be against Jack Bauer in the TV series 24".

This was not a comment by some unwashed moron, this was Jonah Goldburgh. This is how these fascist freaks get their job done.

They put on a show like 24, and glorify torture for a couple years. They show you pictures of us in the act of torturing people, and say it's just "hazing". They NUMB our minds to the HORROR.

Then they take away everything that made America the best country in the world. They take away our moral highground. They take away everything that made us respectable, and humane.

The fact that, in 2006, we are "debating" haebus corpus is appauling...

If the Democrats don't win this election season, you can just forget about ever seeing America The Beatiful again.

You know what the worst part is? We're to blame. You, me, your neighbors, our families, our friends. We all let this happen. We let the events of 9/11 rob us of our reason for far to long, and now that a lot of folks are starting wake up, they are finding that they slept in too late....

8. I take it all the way back to the Inquisition...
In the times the 'Malleus Maleficarum' held sway.

Here we are passing essentially the same document in the so-called modern era.

9. It's --- okay --- because it's on FOX.
Sometimes Fox News mentions shows on the Fox network.

11. Only when hollyweird doesn't back up their twisted POV, are they
against it. Ahnuld and ABC pack of lies as an example. I've never watched "24", does it advocate torture?

14. Jack Bauer used torture to get information all the time.
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 12:45 PM by Connie_Corleone
But, like with any show, it's FICTION. For someone to use the show 24 as an excuse to use torture is living in Wonderland.

They might as well expect every terrorist threat to be thwarted in 24 hours.

5. It's time to become expats now. We are without a country
Now, if I had the funds to leave, I'd do it now, while we can.
And say "Goodbye" to the border control agents over my shoulder
from a safe distance, once I was on the other side

From here on out the snowball to Hell
is no longer on a slippery slope
it's over the cliff, in freefall

10. do remember that many of us have been speaking up, refusing
to swallow the kool-ade, trying desperately to get people to understand what is happening. we did NOT let the events of 9/11 rob us of our reason-- we NEVER lost it.

12. No offense meant. I refer to the collective "we".
I know most of us here at DU haven't been sleepwalking.

My use of the word "we" is a collective use, as in We The People.
