They defend the spy scandal by saying: if you are innocent, you
have nothing to hide...so it is ok because they aren't spying on you, only those who are up to something.

I say; "Bush, if you have nothing to hide, if you are innocent, show us the NSA operation results and prove you did not spy on the Kerry campaign, prove you have not listened in on Cindy Sheehan's phone calls, Prove that you have not spied on the Democratic leadership and given those results to Rove, prove to Americans from coast to coast that the spying on the Quaker anti-war group was a fluke and not a symptom of an Administration-wide War on the Constitution."

If you are innocent, you havenothing to hide, why all the mincing of words, why are you trying to legitimie you actions by saying you told congress. That doesn't make it legal, that makes it a fucking CONFESSION of a crime you idiot!

If the terrorists "hate us for our freedoms" as you are always claiming; Why is it YOU who is actively dismantling those very freedoms?

1. If * takes away enough of our freedoms
maybe the terrorists will not hate us so much.

7. Interestingly enough, I caught some of Savage Weiner's show last night
and he was saying that the reason Islamic extremists hate us so much is because of liberalism. According to Savage Weiner, the terrorists see us as evil because of abortions and gay rights and feminism and everything else.

So, according to Savage, he and Osama aren't that different, and they are both working toward the same goal of "restoring traditional values".

Moreover, it could be argued that Savage, when citing these things that terrorists hate about our county, is not only "blaming America first" but also would try to change these thing, therefore attempting to appease the terrorists. And I thought conservatives said that was a bad thing to do...

18. Yep, both Christians and Muslims want a totalitarian religious world.
But unfortunately both think their particular invisible cloud being deserves it more and the rest of us are caught in the crossfire.

2. At least now the Democrats know
Honestly, if they ever want to win anything again, they will have to find some alternate ways to communicate. Using the phone and possibly email is not safe anymore.

So now at least we can say that the Democrats should be aware that Bush is probably and likely spying on them

4. Translation: If you are on our side and support the president -
you have nothing to hide. It's a goddamn dictatorship we're talking about here. NO regard for the RULE OF LAW (what about that, dickhead?). And don't tell me you're trying to protect me, I don't need another daddy.

This is infuriating. :banghead:

6. Since "probable cause" isn't required, the innocent gets to be spied on,..
,...too.

Aside from THE FACT IT IS A FEDERAL CRIME, warrantless surveillance also breaches peoples' right to due process and privacy.

Do those wackos really want a police state, a "big brother", a communist-like existence where the government can invade private households whenever they please? Are they THAT crazy? Or are they just extremely gullible or stupid or brainwashed or sociopathic? I just find it incredible Americans like this even exist. Goes to show that, perhaps, I, too, held this nation and its people in a bit too high regard, I guess.

15. Invade private households whenever they please . . .
The Supreme Court will be deciding on just such a case in June.

U.S. Supreme Court to Decide if Police Can Barge in Unannounced

snip...

NEW YORK - Forget the ongoing privacy debate over U.S. government spying on telephone conversations--soon you may not have the right to tell cops to wait until you open your door.

In a case involving a private citizen and police authorities of the Midwestern state of Michigan, a team of civil rights lawyers appeared before the Supreme Court this week to challenge the police practice of storming into homes to look for whatever they want as evidence of a crime.

Hudson's lawyers argued that police had no right to enter his home without knocking at the door and announcing their presence, which is a requirement under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"It is undisputed that the police violated the Fourth Amendment by barging into Hudson's home," says David Moran, a law professor at Wayne State University, who appeared before the Supreme Court Monday on Hudson's behalf.

The fourth amendment states that, "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated." It also notes that warrants shall only be issued once authorities have established "probable cause" and described the people, places, and things to be searched and seized.

9. Who attended Dick Cheney's energy task force meetings?
Simple question, it's been posed often enough. Who did Dick Cheney meet with at the beginning of 2001 in his energy task force? Or is this information hidden from the people who pay Cheney's salary and provided the meeting space because something not so innocent was going on?

This is a two way street, Cupcake.

12. The Jews in Germany were innocent and had nothing to hide.
But, Hitler considered them a dire threat...and most of the German people backed him.

According to the polls most Americans think spying on Americans is justified.

14. Well, I Have Nothing To Hide, And That's WHY I'm Outraged
It's a preposterous argument. The reason i'm pissed is that they're spying on folks who have nothing to hide, and they are showing a callous disregard for the law. So, what's to stop them from spying on everyone, whether they've got something to hide or not?

So, to their argument i say: I'm upset with the program BECAUSE i've got nothing to hide.

19. Remember when Bush said he doesn't do email because he doesn't
want us to know what he's writing? Why? Is he writing to Osama?
I don't want him to so much as accidentally listen in on any
of my calls, or read my emails, or sift through search engines with my
research in them, I'm not doing anything wrong, and I still don't want them doing it. This rat bastard should be sitting in a prison cell.
What is wrong with our country? Are they so fearful of terrorists that they allow this man to run willy nilly doing as he pleases without so much as a peep?
