So who is going to protest? (With effectively no Habeas Corpus)
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 10:55 AM by Gregorian
Isn't this what the intention was? Who is going to hit the streets? And face waterboarding? I don't think so.

And isn't this a violation of our Constitutional rights? The First, at least.

Isn't this unconstitutional by virtue of how it affects our other Constitutional rights?

But as it stands, we are no longer free.

Everyone is free to shop. But hell, they're free to shop under the Taliban.

We have no Freedom now. No freedom to express what is important.

1. They can't waterboard all of us
History is on our side in the fight against this sort of tyranny.
The only thing holding us back is our own timidity.
Bush will eventually lose.... if we try

6. Yeah. How's 38% going to waterboard the remainder?
Ultimately that is what it comes down to.

But the attempt is be no different than the Wizard of Oz. One fat guy behind a shield, terrifying the group.

12. It only takes a few people
It's not 38% vs. the rest of us.

It's us versus apathy and fear.

Who stood up to the Nazis?

14. And I was feeling so brave.
Darn you! :)

You're right. Who did stand up against the Nazis? I'll raise you. Who stood up against the drug war? Virtually unopposed. Well of course! Drugs are bad. Aren't they? Same argument. Just substitute outcasts for drugs.

I'm not going to fear. This isn't going to last. If it lasts, this isn't America. The Constitution still exists. And all judges aren't republicans.

I still cannot believe the Dems who voted for this. That has me the most afraid.

2. I plan on still protesting... Must be careful how you word your signs
now. I am assuming signs promoting the Constitution and upholding them would not be seen as a sign of being an "enemy combatant".

3. Also, signs that say "Jesus doesn't torture." "Jesus stands for Peace"
Throw some scripture in there about people watching out for false prophets... Essentially, we are fighting Christian Fundamentalism... They are using God for their righteous acts. So, use it back.

4. But..but, this makes Jesus a terrorist sympathizer!
A fellow traveler. An enemy combatant.

9. So was George Washington. (That other George)
It's the same situation. They'd have all been drawn and quartered.

But my point is, it's not about enemy combatants.

There is no way this ruling can stand. And keep the Constitution.

I'm still totally blown away that any Dems voted for it.

10. "Those who live by the sword, will die by it" spoken not
"pre-emptively" but as Jesus was being led away to be killed, and Simon Peter, one of his disciples used his sword to protect Christ- Jesus admonished him.

One of Jesus' most repeated salutations?

"Go in Peace"-
i'm gonna do my best to honor that.

13. It won't stop me
My outrage still outweighs my fear. :grr:

But it's true that there's plenty of reason for concern these days. :scared:

16. Sorry to disappoint you, but some of us have no plans to
roll over and play dead. I will be happy to keep protesting and speaking out. There is a tradition in my family of giving our lives to make this country better, starting in the Revolution when my g-g-g-grandfather died in the Battle of Oriskany.

Give me liberty, or give me death.

I REALLY mean that.
