It just smells like a Rove setup.
Lets not just focus on this. There are bigger fish to fry.

1. Attack on internet
I believe that internet access for us common folk is THEIR biggest threat. Could they use this to try to control it? Or is it impossible to control it?

2. They fuck up so often, so famously and on so many things that
every fuck up looks like a diversion from another fuckup. Who know?

4. There's SOOOOOO Much SHIT Goin' On...
This is just one Extra Long TURD sitting at the top of the PILE.

The unique thing about this particular TURD, is there's really no good way to spin it. They can lie about lots, but in this day of Dateline NBC investigation, a Pedophile making advances to a 16 YEAR OLD BOY former employee via the Internet, by a SITTING CONGRESSMAN, is NOT able to be spun at all.

It's called HYPOCRITES. Say it again....HYPOCRITES!!!! He was on the FUCKING COUNCIL FOR CHILD PREDATORS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!

THIS IS UNSPINNABLE. And it just indicates what a bunch of SELFISH, CONTROLLING, HYPOCRITICAL BASTARDS the entire lot on that side of the aisle truly are. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!

5. Neh. It's an event. There are many roads, big & small, to the destination.
Talk of "diversion" IS diversion.

6. Yup, you're right on that..
It's taken the Woodward revelations off the front page.

I guess you could call it "steering" the masses to
think about what they want you to think about..

The redeeming value is hopefully it will be a further
Republican turnoff in Nov, even for the die hard Pugs.

7. i think the democrats outed Foley
the are holding a lot of stories like this. just not playing their hand until the election gets closer.

there is a reason the neocons say we have no plan, they want us to play it early. Dem's have smartened up and will not give rove his card to play.

15. I think it's the CIA, FBI, or both.
I posted this last night on a thread that's probably somewhere on page 5 at this point.

Bush has used the domestic intel agencies as a punching bag since 9/11. He blamed his lies about WMD on 'bad intelligence,' even after he had the gall to send Rummy and Cheney to Langley to 'cook' that intel so they could get their war on.

I've been saying for years that the CIA and/or FBI would get back at Bush for screwing them over. This may be it.

I don't know who originally said it, but there's a saying from the Watergate era - 'Don't fuck with the spooks.'

Bush has done just that, repeatedly and cravenly. And the spooks may have picked this election cycle to fuck him back. And as bad a hit as the Foley story is, I'd wager they're not even getting serious yet.

8. I highly doubt they would give up a seat as a "diversion"
The only diversion was the coverup from the GOP congressional higherups who apparently knew about this for a year...

13. Exactly. And this isn't much of a "diversion" anyway.
Trading a congressional seat for a few days worth of talking about a Republican pedophilia cover-up? Huh?

I think they'd rather talk about Woodward's article.

10. So Rove would have to say...
"We're in danger of losing control of the House of Representatives. The Democrats may take control with as little as a one-seat majority. *LIGHTBULB* Let's sacrifice one of our own to make their job even easier!!11one"

Yeah, it's political genius. :eyes:

12. They gave up a safe seat and made their party look horrible for a
diversion? As sad as it is, people might care more about this at a gut level than the reports on the conduct of the Iraq War.

14. Not everything is a Rovian conspiracy.
Some things just happen without insidious plot behind them.

Is it really Rove's intention to throw a House seat into the Dem column and implicate the House Repuke leadership in a cover-up that may bring them down, too?

The timing of this couldn't be any worse for the Repukes.

Think man, think.

19. Except that the "democrat" running in the FL 16th was a puke a year ago.
"Tim Mahoney, a South Florida businessman for two decades but a Democrat for just two years, was recruited by Democratic strategists to run against Republican Mark Foley because they saw him as a "good fit" for a district that voted 54 percent in favor of President Bush in 2004.

With his personal wealth, the disillusioned Reagan Republican could finance the start of his campaign. He is a self-described fundamental Christian."
