War vet turned candidate attacks Bush on Iraq

WASHINGTON - An Illinois congressional candidate who lost both of her legs during combat in Iraq says President Bush has no real strategy for securing that nation.

Former Army Captain Tammy Duckworth said in the Democratic Party’s weekly radio address that the president’s refrains like “stay the course” are used to win elections, but “won’t help us accomplish our mission in Iraq.”

Duckworth also criticized the president for accusing anyone who challenges his policies of “cutting and running.”

Duckworth co-piloted a Black Hawk helicopter that crashed while under a rocket grenade attack almost two years ago.
helicopter was shot down long after the president proclaimed “mission accomplished.”
