I think ABC ran with the Foley story to make up with Dems
The St. Petersburg Times had this story last November (via TPM: http://blogs.tampabay.com/buzz/2006/09/a_note_from_the.html) yet they refused to run with the story. ABC gets the story and chooses to report it. I think they went with the story because they've been on the lookout for a story to appease the Democrats. All those phonecalls, emails, boycotts about The Path to 9/11 got them very, very worried. They knew they were in trouble so they reported this story.

3. And how many other media outlets sat on the story?
I wish we knew.

4. ABC made it's bed with the Devil, not the Dems.
I say let them lay and sweat in it.

5. oh, i don't know...
"If it bleeds, it leads", and if it doesn't bleed, prurient sex is the next best thing. The M$M has just as much disincentive to cover the infamous Torture-Habeus-Corpus-to-Death bill as Democrats have in defending the indefensible; after all, the media is just as complicite as Democrats in both laying the groundwork for it and its passage. And not talking about it also aids and abets the GOP (election) game plan of shifting the debate towards other, sensational but (politically) irrelevant, topics. So the GOP has to "de-Foley-ate" themselves...sheesh...
