17. No. The polls are pretty consistent here.
Polls can be wrong because of methodology, but if you think Rasmussen (R) and Zogby (D) and all the others are in on some conspiracy, I'll have to to disagree.

The problem is voters tend to like incumbents, and Allen's approval ratings aren't that bad in VA.

Webb still has a shot though, imo.

3. Other polls have them tied, I think.
But llen has two problems: himself and the Party/Syndicate. I expect we'll see some significant changes in the polls as the confluence of latest revelations sink into the minds of 35% backwash...

9. Yes, I've been hearing all day that they are tied.
Frankly, even that is shocking. Fritz should be about 20 points behind. Maybe like you said the next set of polls will demonstrate the backlash.

Rasmussen is too right leaning to take seriously.

5. Keep in mind the state he represents.
Racism is very in vogue with a large percentage of the population there.

14. .
Or like this segment in the Daily Show about Allen, his racism and Virginia: It was something like "Although in Virginia, we are still not sure whether it's helping or not."

(no offense meant to DUers from Virginia)

18. I doubt that Doug Wilder thinks Virginians are racist -
- since we voted him in as the first BLACK GOVERNOR IN THE NATION in 1990. At present, he is the mayor of Richmond, our state capital. Funny that a southern state should hold the distinction of having the first black governor. Fact is, we Virginians aren't the racists that others wish to portray us.

Why Allen is leading is unknown to me. The three most recent polls are shown at realclearpolitics. Combined they give Allen a +4 lead, still within the margin of error. Link below:

21. Webb should make racist comments to appeal to those bigots.
I read enough posts here to understand that the non-bigots are morally obligated to vote for him no matter what, because he has a D after his name. So if Webb triangulates to pick up some of the Klan vote too, he'll have a lock on a majority.

If this strategy is applicable for the torture issue, then why not here?

11. I have visited Virginia many times. It also may be accurate
And SOME of the people of Virginia may have a little growing left to do.

Remember that he lost a few votes, but also, sadly, gained a few as well.

23. People dont see through this but
Rasmussen has always leaned to the right, especially close to election day. This race according to other polls its a dead heat.Polls do have a way of influencing some less informed voters..
