Bush, Pombo protesters gather (7:30 a.m.)

The Record
Published Tuesday, Oct 3, 2006

Protesters started gathering outside the Memorial Civic Auditorium around 6:30 this morning, chanting at people waiting to enter the fund-raising breakfast for Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Tracy, where President Bush is to appear.

Fences erected for the occasion kept the protesters about 100 yards from the auditorium, but the 100 or so protesters who were there by 7:15 didn’t let the distance keep them from vociferously expressing their mostly anti-war views.

3. Local Democratic Radio
specifically asked that people NOT show up and protest against Bush. They felt that in these Republican areas where Dems are finally making some headway, the sight of protestors might turn off the Republicans who were on the fence. This is especially the case in Placer County where Doolittle is vulnerable for the first time ever. If it were not for this request from the radio, there would have been many, many more protestors.

5. Poll out today shows Pombo 2 pts behind his challenger!
It's within the MOE, but still, this is great news!!! Even with the * visit, the Foley-scandal might be enough to just push Pombo under.
