39. I agree with your 15 min theory.
Everytime something like this happens, the msm blows up a picture of the scumbag, and repeats the story with the life size picture every two minutes for days, sometimes weeks. Some of these sickos just love the glory. Unless they are "at large" I wouldn't give them two cents worth of publicity. Not their name, not their picture... nada.

16. Crowded rat syndrome
and extreme stress across the land..

If too many lab rats are crowded into the same small space, they will turn on each other and do vile things..

People everywhere are under immeasurable stresses these days.. (I am NOT condoning the actions that "some" people choose to take, but I think in the last decade, a tipping point was reached and lots of people have realized that their lives are shit..there is no help..or if there is help, it's inaccessible for most of them.

People have lost hope and hopeless people do crazy things..

Man Points Gun At Elementary School Employees

South Salt Lake police are looking for a man who waved a gun at employees at a Granite School District elementary school Tuesday.

Employees at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School told police they saw a Hispanic man point a gun at them. The man was not on school property at the time.

Police say the man got on a UTA bus and got away southbound on State Street.

Police are stopping busses in the area searching for the suspect who is described as a 5' 5" to 6' tall Hispanic male. He has short black hair and was wearing blue jeans and a red shirt.

Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 01:45 PM by BattyDem

It's the entire GOP-controlled government. They have been dehumanizing various groups of people for the last 5 years. Muslims, women, homosexuals, Iraqis ... it's a long list.

When the people in charge say it's perfectly fine to kill, torture and degrade another human being - no matter what the reason - the nuts are going to come out in full force. :-(

Or is it the other way around?

Step #1. Make them realize WHY THEY NEED US!

I mean, you gotta admit the similarities and time between these shootings are far too close anymore.

65. I've been thinking about Projects Artichoke and Bluebird --
-- sorry, I forget the others. But it has been documented that we have had, and probably still have a "control" program, having to do with our thinking processes. People are supposedly programmed, with triggers, that make them do things and commit suicide.

I hate to even allow the possibility. But life has just gotten weirder and weirder and weirder, to the point that the nonsensical is all that makes sense.
..
And so, I cannot help but wonder.

25. Re: violent crime stats
Didn't they drop WAY down during Clinton's administration? I'd be interested to see a chart graphing the two administration's efforts on crime.

I sure don't remember violence against innocent children in their schools being quite so rampant back in the day.

55. I'd like to see the same statistics with two comparisons....
The first graphed with Job OutSourcing numbers, the second with illegal immigrant statistics.

You cannot take away 2 million good jobs, and then flood the market with cheap labor and expect people not to lose their minds. Finding a job for someone not willing to work 70 hours a week for dirt cheap has got to be hard.

I also think that this is also what happens when latch-key kids grow up on violent video games. It is really, really sad.

28. Didn't school shootings happen like once every 2-3 years?
Now they happen every 2-3 days, it appears.

It's kind of bizarre, bordering on "too unusual to be coincidence".

Guess I'm going to have to live in an America where I'll be waiting for a phone call from the Avon Lake Police saying my kid's school was just invaded by a gun-wielding psychodot and the SWAT team's on it.

Jesus Christ.

Awful lot of assumptions being made here. Posts referring to this as school shooting, etc. So far, whatever it was, it doesn't seem to have been signficant enough to warrant an update on any of the websites of any of the Salt Lake City newspapers or television stations.

Why don't we try getting the facts before we get hysterical?

The whole point of Bowling was that when we have poor leadership, we have more violence.

We have made torture, war, and killing GOOD.

It's not a suprise that we now have people totally snapping. They think it's GOOD.

53. For those who forgot basic stats...
There are several hundred million people in the US alone. The probability that any act you can think of is committed by someone, somewhere, is not negligible. When the media wants to create/exploit bias the just focus on whatever fashionable act, reporting each case, giving the false impression of a sudden epidemics.
An alligator eats somebody's leg? Sure enough, there is a sudden proliferation of murderous alligators around the country; all because the media starts reporting selectively to exploit the fact that public attention is focused on that.
