7. Lol, yeah no shit

Weadmittewewerepowerlessoveralcoholthatour lives had become unmanageableCame to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanityMade a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understoodHimMade a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of characterHumbly askedHim to remove our shortcomings.Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them allMade directamendsto such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted itSought through prayer and meditationtoimprove our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that outHaving had a spiritual awakening as the result of these stepswe tried to carry this message to alcoholicsand to practice these principles in all our affairs

Ok...good to go..

8. Since when is having your attorney cover your ass
part of a 12-step program?

11. That's part of a 'special' 12-step program
that only republican members of Congress are allowed to participate in. :eyes:

12. Or a person who's not interested in recovery as much as CYA
If he truly wanted to go through the process he wouldn't be meeting w/his attorney and planning press conferences IMHO.

13. Right.
I am so sick of people using AA and recovery to get out of responsibility. You can't con a conman. This is so transparent.

15. The press figured it out
They kept asking if the press conference and the 'admissions' were really part of his recovery.

I've seen several different 'recovery' programs (no, I'm not in recovery - but very close to some who are) and none of them encourage speeding through the program or 'outing' yourself or holding a press conference to tell the world that a clergyman molested you over forty years ago.

Maybe they do things differently in FLA? I don't think so.

He needs one person in that facility to kick all his outside sources OUT and make him start working whatever program they have. Or he'll be right back at it 26 days from now.

17. I think the Repukes covered this up.
They did not inform the Democratic Leadership of the issue. And now they are trying to spin it that the Democrats are just doing this to win the election. They are lying to save their necks. Foley's "alcoholism" is a sham. He is doing that to stay out of jail. If it had been a normal citizen that had been caught doing this, they would have been hauled off to jail. I feel when all is said and done, the Repukes are going to have to vote for a new speaker, whip, and other chairs for the last few months they hold pwer in the House.

But after Delay and Abrahamoff I still get that icky feeling that the Bush Administration has a whole lotta Teflon on em. *sigh*

19. Abrahamoff is still not finished.
there was a new allegation the other day, but Foley and the Amish school shooting pushed it off the radar. If I remember correctly it connected the White house and more Bush* officials to him and the scandal. But like I said it was trumped by Foley and the Amish school.

20. Yeah it was about how many visits to the WH and Rove's staff
I think I read it on page A-8 of our local paper. The press is bored w/it and want new scandal. That's what worries me.

21. I saw something on it, and going from memory, it had to do with favors...
and that there were a lot of money changing hands. And it involved Rove, more. Makes you wonder about just why Foley was slammed now, if the House leadership sat on it this long.
