I think I know the name of the priest who molested Foley
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 07:31 PM by WilliamPitt
& I am going to ask this be deleted. Foley moved out of Newton when he was three. Thanks for the info.&

If it is true.

Foley grew up in Newton. So did I.

I went to CCD class at Our Lady's parish. My CCD teacher was a priest named Paul Shanley.

You might know the name. He turned out to be the most astonishing predator in the entire Catholic pedophile scandal.

No, he never messed with me.

But if this Foley accusation is true, I'd bet my bottom dollar that it was Shanley who did it.

7. Isn't he the one who was...
murdered in prison? Egads...sure puts it all in a different light. I don't understand the whole 'pedophile' thing going on with regards to Foley...I would label it inappropriate..maybe sexual exploitation. But, if he were to have abuse in his backround it would certainly explain his lack of boundaries.

New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote
October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

"last minute Hail Mary" is TRUE?

Look, my hubby went through 12 years Catholic School and 4 years College.

I've heard all the stories from him...but the guys he knew had "codes" for the "Brothers" that they thought were "maybe." They used to do "wooooooo..." in low tones whenever Brother So and So came near and started to do a "rub." This is back before your time when kids were MUCH MORE innocent...

I've heard all the horror stories and my hubby never could understand why he wasn't allowed to be an Alter Boy because his Navy Officer Dad who was a practicing Catholic refused to let him do it. Now my hubby thinks his DAD was trying to protect him...just in case...

Anyway I think this Foley "last minute" cop out that a "Priest Made me Do it" is Crap. It's just too convenient, selfserving and obvious. He's a very happy powerful guy to have some last minute "Epiphany" when he got "caught out."

There are too many whose lives were ruined and who have been so scarred they couldn't hold jobs because of what the errant Priests did to them...for me to have sympathy with this 52 year old guy with his Beemer and taking guys to Morton's and doing I'ming while masterbating....Sheesh.

He had some time to go get some therapy if he was so scarred. But, he doesn't seem to have "suffered" until now. JMHO...

of pedophile priests? It's all so overwhelming for some of us. We have been victims in one form or another. And the blase attitudes of too many pretty much guarantee new victims.

I am glad for you Will that you were too damn much trouble for the likes of a pervert like Shandley to target. <Your mom told me that...>

45. You may be guessing correctly
but there is no telling at this point.

It seems like he wanted a do-over on the sympathy play. "Drunk" didn't cut it and a focus group decided "molested" played better.

Personally I see no reason to believe anything he says - he already betrayed trust.

He has all the smackings of a man who will say anything. In fact all the denials made by the law yer cynically made me suspect he was guilty of ALL those things they were denying.

46. I didn't take the time to check the whole thread, but
Foley was living in Florida when he was molested (age 13-15) according to the local news station. His family moved here when he was 3. He lived in Lake Worth, Florida, went to Lake Worth High School, and it was probably a church in Lake Worth or West Palm Beach. There are several there. http://www.defenddemocracy.org/biographies/biographies_show.htm?doc_id=155046
