I'm wondering what they're saying about Foley and Hastert, but I can't bring myself to tune in.

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers - not only for the answer, but for your selfless sacrifice to the cause.

3. Don't need too.
"It's Clinton's fault. It's the Democrats' fault. It's the gays' fault. The Republican party is the party of family values and personal responsibility."

4. They are singing from the same hymnal yet again
Olbermann (not there tonight) had a montage of GOP mouthpieces all saying the same thing: Gerry Studds, Barney Frank, Bill Clinton. The Dems held this info to release it five weeks before the election. Newt and others: Hastert et al were afraid they would be accused of gay bashing if they pursued it(! This from the gay bashing party!). They all sing from the same hymnal. It has worked for them for years, and likely will again (but I hope not).

5. its the pages' faults, they are out to get foley, sexual seducers etc
tuned in a local christian right wing rag station this morning by accident while fumbling with the radio in the dark (shutting off the alarm).

the whole gist of the few minutes I heard was that the pages were predators who were picking on foley because foley was a repub who happened to be gay!

kid you not!

the pages were leading the congressman astray and the good christian congressman is going through rehab so he will be forgiven by the make believe phantom in the sky.

7. Please DO tell us what christian radio station that was. . .
I'd love to know if that was affiliated with either Wildmon's American "Family" Association or Dobson's Focus on the "Family."

9. Sure...Limpy said it was all about sexual harassment. Clinton was in a
position of power and took advantage of Monica. Foley was in a position of power and took advantage of a page.

He equated the two and said that if Dems defended Clinton, they must defend Foley. (Completely dismissed the pedophilia (or hemophilia...whatever that term is...) on the same grounds)

11. Bullsh*t!
Repub "logic" is mind boggling. Clinton didn't prey on Monica. The flirtation was mutual. She was young compared to Clinton, but certainly not underage, and he didn't solicit sex from her. Foley isn't gay. He's a pedophile, preying on underage boys and using his position to intimidate them into sex.

16. I tend to agree that both instances involved an element of power abuse.
BUT, the Foley incident involves the added element of ephebophilia (I guess we all have to learn this word now).

Abuse of power does not seem to be as illegal/immoral as ephebophilia, in my opinion.

10. I caught a little of Hannity's radio
show and he is pounding on Studds, who had an affair with a 17 year old male page. He was beating the guy up pretty hard. In this case, I have to agree. Neither of these scumbags should be in office and Studds stayed in office for 13 years after his fuckup. He should have been dispatched immediately.:hide:

12. FReeperland
The kool-aid drinking sadists over there are scattering to the four winds. A scant few who still have a shred of a soul left are disgusted by Foley's pedophilia and are demanding more of the GOP leadership who apparently dropped the ball on this one.

The rest? Cooking up desperate conspiracy theories about how Foley's e-mails were forged, or how he was entrapped by a liberal plant in the page ranks, rehashing stories about Clinton, Kennedy, Gary Studds, Barney Frank, and so on.

I almost pity em, in a way. To be that fundamentally naive about life and not even realize it is a shame.

13. Does Ed Schultz count?
He had ont his guy who claimed to be an "independent" then blamed Democrats for exposing Foley, said they would have covered it up if he was one of them, etc.

Even Schuiltz lost it finally and called the guy a DEMOPHOBE.

15. Rush was all about "when did the Dems know and . . .
. . . why did they 'sit on it'"? Ranted about that for the whole show. Never mind that they didn't. His callers ALL prefaced with, "Well, I'm not trying to defend Foley, but . . . "
