Does the DLC support Dem candidates in 2006?
Just wondering. They seem to do nothing but criticize Dems and defend the GOP these days, especially so close to election day.

Can anyone out there from DLC give us a list of the Dem candidates the DLC is supporting in November and a list of the GOP candidates they support?

Thanks.

1. Could be wrong
but I think they are primarily a policy organization, more like a think tank.

6. The DLC is most definitely a political entity....
it is the political arm of the "Think Tank", The Progressive Policy Institute, and "The Third Way" is the Foreign Policy arm of the same "Think Tank".

8. I don't think you even contradicted me..
It is an organization of people with the same/similar political views thats for sure. And they write policy papers on political questions of the day. On the other hand I do not think they funnel support to candidates in any direct way.

10. They just get their Corporate Friends to directly support them
in return for the sell-out of their constituents. Nice deal.

This is why I cannot and will not support the DLC, or any of their candidates or "friends".

11. I think it works like this
The DLC will advise and provide materials for campaigns, and elected officials in return for money to keep the lights on and pay a small number of salaries. Certain elected officals now and even more in the past thought/think it was a benefit to associate their name with the DLC. I think with the rise of netroots and the left in general you are seeing politicians distance themselves from it now.

12. Jim, I just don't think it's that benign...
You and I will have to agree to disagree about them, I think.

Where you see what you see, I see definitely another thing altogether.

2. you can check out their website, www.dlc.org
but I spelunked on it for a long while and could only find their 4-5 leaders. I know they have a list of members, but I finally lost interest. They don't make it easy to navigate to, or else I'm just blind.

I DO know their star member just went independent, Joe Lieberman, so you can infer from that whatever you wish.

9. I can't figure out if they are trying to protect their members or if
their members don't want to be publicly tied to them, but their list of members no longer exists.

Those are just the ELECTED DLC-ers, as far as I understand. They only listed those who currently hold public office.

It would be nice to know if a specific Dem congressperson was DLC.
