c-span - gotta love it this morning.
GOP only calls - should the GOP retain power in congress?
Two smart, well spoken men said, no.
One Texas, chaw-filled jesus freak mumbled and screamed like a diarrhetic good ole boy finding himself at a pay toilet with no change.

4. nother caller, "it''s not the sex scandal that really bothers me.....
it's the coverup". Apparently these people have no qualms with congressmen chasing underage boys around for sex. suddenly they've forgotten their "one man, one woman" meme. Now, while the lunitics are in such a tolerent mood, would be the time for the Gay community to come out and press for rights.

Democrats are lowlife women, lowlife blacks, lowlife hillbillies... Pelosi is a lesbian... Republicans are more intelligent

edit: and they wonder why I am against carrying a gun :sarcasm: (not very much)

21. Heard it, too --
what I can't understand is why, instead of cutting them off when they start spouting that hate-filled invective, the hosts actually pose questions to them like they're some sort of elder statesman, imparting the wisdom of his years.

10. I love the calls. I have even met people like that in life.
Usually you hear a lot of far outs on both sides but some really seem to be thinking about things. A real mixed bag and I have been in to it since I got a dish years ago so I could get C-span. I used to just leave it on as back ground as I worked. I was always sorry that I waited so long before I got it. Been turning in since 95.

11. Skully's Dying 1000 Deaths...ROFL
This weasel has long been part of the right wing astroturf operation. He has a lot of power inside th network...and was on the credential committee that issued Jeff Gannon the "credentials" he used to get onto Capitol hill that he parlayed into passes into the White House.

He spent the first half hour taking only Repugnican calls. Then didn't do the same for Democrats. He can't handle all those "negative vibes" coming at him.

C-Span's stuck...I'm sure they'd love to do another show on immigration or abortion, like they did the other day to try to tamp down this fiasco...but this story is just too big now for it to ignore.

Remember, C-SPAN was set up to give Repugnicans access to "the airwaves" back in the 80's in their first attack on the media. Newt would sit in the empty chamber and rail for hours...and became a right wing darling by using C-SPAN...and the network's right wing bias as been chronicled by F.A.I.R.

But what would you expect from a network that gets all its money from the large cable corporates...a majority are big time GOOP donors.

12. did not know that provenance, but on the other hand, it was a fair issue
The majority party - with horrific results and hypocritical record, and a total failure to ban abortion - they have pissed off their base. Foleygate only puts all their previous failures in the limelight and shows that they really care only about their own power, not about their purported policy positions.

So, to limit the question to GOP supporters AND asking them if they are turned off, is really a smart question. And recall the answers, many of them did sound GOPish and upset. Then again, any opportunity to hear that Chaw-chewin Texan makes my day. And makes me proud that I live in Ill-in-noise.

13. The Hypocrisy Is Delicious
There's a break here between the "value" Repugnicans and the "power" ones...and we're sure hearing that rift. The ones who keep looking for a Democrat to pin this on or do the "Clinton did a page" or try to downplay this are the undistilled ignornat and arrogant Repugnicans who fill the hate radio shows and troll the internet and would watch boooosh eat a live baby on TV and wonder what's for desert.

The "value" Repugnicans see this hypocrisy in very abhorant terms. This not only brings up their horrors of the Clenis (what do we tell the children???) and the homophobia they've been shoveled for the past 30 years. They can look the other way if its Iraq but not when it hits on these trip wires for them.

I think the Repugnicans overplayed things with Terri Schaivo...by bending over backward to the religious nuts it scared the hell out of the K Street crowd and other big money who really call the shots here. Since then they've been shut out and the chickens are coming home to roost. This is definitely a "what have you done for me lately" bit.

Many of these people probably would have given the Repugnicans a pass if Hastert had come up and bit the bullet last weekend, but now it's too late...the knives are out and I'm going back for more

:hi:

14. I'm a curious shade of blue in a very red region of Illinois.
There are 12 churches and one bar within a mile and 1/2 of my door. Abortion is considered a mortal sin here.
Yet, people here ripped off their W stickers a year ago. They talk about impeachment in the grocery lines. They Hate what has happened to the country under Bush.
FoleyGate is just more food for the fodder. Proves that they say one thing and do another.

15. Sounds Like You're Downstate...
I'm in the Chicago suburbs...I call this area purple. It used to be Red and all us city kids who moved out to the burbs are now starting to be heard and felt. But I know real well from where you speak. I've been all over the state and did a talk show in a small very, very, very Repugnican town in the 80's...these are good people who put their values over all else. While we may not agree with those values, as you note, they have a bad taste in their mouth about booosh and now the Repugnican party.

I'm sure you know the rift here in Illinois is even more profound as the the Repugnicans still haven't purged the Ryan cabal (Topinka) and several different "conservatives" that have not only made it possible for Democrats to sweep all the major state offices, but now are being felt on the local level.

I've already donated to John Laesech this week...and am ready to parachute into the district to help GOTV.

Cheers...

:hi:

17. palos, actually.
But there are two competing churches on the same corner. One is leaving - they are running out of space.
Yeah, given the last 5 yrs, this place may be turning purple, too.

Judy barr could have won hands down, as bad as Bloggo is. But her own ties to Ryan are coming back to haunt her. People dislike her, but they really HATE bloggo.
I'm wondering who will be indicted first. Da mare or Bloggo.

Of course we just shoot ourselves in the foot when Todd Stroger is the best we can choose. . . and then for his key radio interview, he says, "I can't tell you my plan for the county. It's a secret. And I don't want to piss people off." That is leadership?
