Republican Pedopologists Popping up everywhere
I've heard many, many of them in the last few days trying desperately to defend foley without directly defending molesting boys and it has caused me to laugh with wild abandon.

"In Florida, the age of consent is 16", being one of my favorite laugh lines, or, "he was raped by a priest, and this is what happens", as if. "Everyone knows homosexuals prey on boys", is another belly laugh.

Can you believe how quickly they became pedopologists?

16. The age of consent in FL is 16 UNLESS the other party is over 24.
(I only used your post to respond to b/c it is first--there's a lot of bs about this issue on this thread--again, not you).

2. So do you believe Florida legalises pedophilia?
Since they allow a parent to permit their 16 or 17 year old child to marry someone of any age, isn't the age of consent in Florida actually quite relevant to a discussion of whether this counts as pedophilia?

4. That would be relevant, but lets say we accept the argument
that this boy was of age of consent, and lets further assume that a homosexual relationship is no big thing. Seeing how this is the party that has demonised homosexuality for forever that still makes them lying hypocrites. Is that the kind of people we want running the government?

7. I agree he's not the kind of person who should run the government
because of hypocrisy and sexual harrassment. But the label of 'pedophile' doesn't look correct to me (he seems to love talking about how sexually mature his targets are). He targets those he's in authority over - it's the same situation as a teacher trying to seduce a pupil. It may or noa not be legal, but it's ethically unacceptable.

9. I thought the age of consent was 16 in FL...
UNLESS the other individual is x number of years older, then it becomes 18 (?)

11. Yes, but parents' permission to marry removes "the disabilities of nonage"
A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree ... The provisions of this section do not apply to a person 16 or 17 years of age who has had the disabilities of nonage removed under chapter 743

http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/FloridaLaws.htm#794.05

CHAPTER 743
DISABILITY OF NONAGE OF MINORS REMOVED

Removal of disabilities of married minors.
The disability of nonage of a minor who is married or has been married or subsequently becomes married, including one whose marriage is dissolved, or who is widowed, or widowered, is removed. The minor may assume the management of his or her estate, contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued, and perform all acts that he or she could do if not a minor.

http://www.uslegalforms.com/lawdigest/emanicipation-law-digest.php/FL/FL-EM-001.htm

So there's an explicit mention in the section defining 18 as the age of consent with those 24 or older, saying it doesn't apply for those who are married (which would require parents' consent), even if the sex is with someone they're not married to.

14. These pages weren't married so this provision is wholly irrelevant.
Jeffrey Toobin, on CNN earlier, stated that the age of consent in FL is 16 and failed to apprise the audience of the "unless the other party is over 24" caveat. I understand HIS desire to obfuscate the issue, I don't get yours.

15. I don't think the term 'pedophilia' applies in this case
because I don't think 'pedophilia' is something that can be excused with a parent's say so. The medical definition of pedophilia doesn't apply in this case, either. 'Pedophile' is one of the beyond-the-pale words that can be used to demonise someone completely (it gets people beaten up in prison, for instance), so I don't think it should be applied unless it's true.

17. We haven't been discussing the definition of pedophilia...
we've been discussing the age of consent in FL (16 UNLESS the other party is over 24).

I'll assume you are simply having trouble admitting you are wrong, NOT intentionally providing erroneous information.

18. See the OP title: "Pedopologists"
The accusation of pedophilia is an integral part of it. The OP thinks that the age of consent is irrelevant to it, but I say that since sex with a 16 year old can be legal for a 54 year old, in Florida as in much (most, I'd suspect) of the world, it is not generally seen as pedophilia. What erroneous information do you think I might have provided?

5. A meme should have been born long ago....
Re: Lawrence King and the Franklin Credit Union scandal.

Try reading former republican Nebraska senator John W. DeCamp's book "The Franklin Coverup". I say "try" since I was physically I'll from some of it and had to put it down. Very very disturbing if true.

Find the banned documentary "Conspiracy of Silence". I think you can find it on google videos or youtube. I have a Divx copy from some bit torrent site.

It is disturbing to say the least.

6. This has been going on so long GOP should change its name to...
GPP - Grandpa's Pedophile Party.

Got this email this morning about 1994 Discovery documentary that was supressed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am sending this to many of my Republican, Christian, Bush loyalist (worshipping) friends as well as my allies in the reasonable, rational and common sense, patriotic movement to save America from the Bush Crime Family's disastrous, bloodless election-stealing coup occupation of our White House and subsequent Bechtel's war-profiteering, preemptive invasion and Halliburton's occupation of Iraq.

You may or may not be aware of the details of the national Republican Party, Jack Abramoff scandal which has revealed that many of his clients were treated to multiple vacations to offshore locations where prostitution sex with minors was legal and commonplace.

In the wake of the revelations of the GOP/PPP (Pedophile Protection Party) Congressional conspiracy to cover up pedophile offenders in their leadership, here is..

The Discovery channel/Yorkshire Television documentary film that millions of dollars suppressed:

http://www.franklincase.org/silence.htm

Am I playing "dirty politics"?

Only if telling the truth that has been suppressed by criminals holding public office is "dirty".

Light is the only effective disinfectant for darkness.

Christians... time to take a long, hard look at your loyalties. Hitler's rise to power was greased by the ignorance of the National Church of Germany.
