BUSTED not SORRY
all these apologies and actions like entering rehab are the actions of people who got BUSTED and had no intention of changing or apologizing had they not been. it is hollow and meaningless. i think most people see that.

""I hung up the phone and I turned to (Foley) and I asked him, 'Are these authentic?' And he said, 'Probably.' "

Fordham said he then went to his boss, who said Foley must resign. Fordham then went to Foley's home with a resignation letter, which Foley signed."

1. Interesting little tidbit from that article, related to your excerpt:
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 09:17 AM by Skinner
Kirk Fordham told reporters he was trying to spare Foley's sister, Donna, and his ailing parents from the "lurid" details. He called "absurd" assertions that he was trying to cover up the incident.

"Perhaps a bit naively, I was thinking of Mark's family, primarily his parents," said Fordham, who is now chief of staff for Rep. Thomas Reynolds of New York, who is chairman of the House GOP campaign committee. "It was never, ever my intention to suppress this information."

Where have we heard that name before?

2. Right. As Rhett Butler said to Scarlett in GONE WITH THE WIND,
"You’re like the thief who isn’t the least bit sorry he stole, but he’s terribly, terribly sorry he’s going to jail. "

3. That's what rehab has turned into... A place of safety from which
to build an excuse...

5. yah it sure has conveniently removed him from
public scrutiny. It is cowardice disguised to induce pity.

8. Yep!
I could have sympathy for someone who had gotten some help before they fucked up or at least before they were caught in the act.

The upside is that I'd bet judges see this bulls**t often enough to recognize it for what it is.

9. He went to his boss? Which Boss?
Wasn't he Foley's chief of staff at the time? Wouldn't that have made Foley his boss? Or was it Reynolds call that Foley had to resign? Lots of holes in this story, or at least, hard to follow.

Just who gave the order to cut off Foley's congressional head here?

10. They've taken a page out of the
Studd's playbook. A big one finger salute and carry on.

However, these are different times from the 1970s and seducing or hitting on or molesting minors is not viewed in quite the same way. Talk to the parents out there. If these had been their children, they would be looking at someone like Foley with blood in their eyes.
