A gentle reminder -
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 10:22 AM by waiting for hope
Though this entire Foley mess is tragic, sad and sick, it has helped the Democrats a bit here, let's not be coy by denying his misfortune is our gain. I'm guilty myself of posting a few Foley related subjects - However, I would like to remind all that there is a bigger picture here and if I boldly may, use a recent excerpt from Keith Olbermann:

Had it been true that Clinton had been distracted from the hunt for bin Laden in 1998 because of the Monica Lewinsky nonsense, why did these same people not applaud him for having bombed bin Laden’s camps in Afghanistan and Sudan on Aug. 20, of that year? For mentioning bin Laden by name as he did so?

That day, Republican Senator Grams of Minnesota invoked the movie "Wag The Dog."

Republican Senator Coats of Indiana questioned Mr. Clinton’s judgment.

Republican Senator Ashcroft of Missouri—the future attorney general—echoed Coats.

Even Republican Senator Arlen Specter questioned the timing.

And of course, were it true Clinton had been “distracted” by the Lewinsky witch-hunt, who on earth conducted the Lewinsky witch-hunt?

Who turned the political discourse of this nation on its head for two years?

Who corrupted the political media?

Who made it impossible for us to even bring back on the air, the counter-terrorism analysts like Dr. Richard Haass, and James Dunegan, who had warned, at this very hour, on this very network, in early 1998, of cells from the Middle East who sought to attack us, here?

Who preempted them in order to strangle us with the trivia that was, “All Monica All The Time”?

Who distracted whom?

This is, of course, where—as is inevitable—Mr. Bush and his henchmen prove not quite as smart as they think they are.

While what Mark Foley did was vile, I feel that a few years down the road it may be turned against us - regardless of the fact it's the Repukes doing most of the squabbling. It is human nature to gawk and stare at something that is out of the norm, but the elections are just five short weeks away and taking back control of congress should be in the forefront.

1. There Is NO WAY Foley Can Be Turned On Democrats
not any more than 9/11 can be. And they've tried, real hard.

3. I got this real sinking feeling last night...
from 5:00 pm to 11:00 - every news station had something about Foley...all I could think of was how it was when it was Monica monica monica.....there are quite a few races out there that are really close - close enough that all the attention for that needs to be focused.

2. Thank you for your concern.
We are not the least bit distracted. We are, in fact, honed in.

When someone lifts a rock and ugly things come scurrying out, you do not put the rock down until every icky horror is known. That would be remiss.

Republicans have been concealing their illegal sexual perversions. That is wrong.

They will all be much happier after rehab, and jail, and accepting Jesus as their personal savior. Yes, they will.

This is our good deed for the Republicans.

4. This is so much more important than Monica

They covered up for a pedophile! Which Dems covered up for Clinton?

It's not about sex and it's not about morality. This is about covering up for a PEDOPHILE. So yes, we need to keep hammering on this until every repukelican in this country understands just how vile and evil their leadership is.

I, for one, am not ready to let this one go yet.

6. They should pay the consciences over this -

I'm not disagreeing with that. But, Woodward's book would be carrying more weight if this wasn't in the MSM and all the other issues that need to be focused on.

5. They're going to turn it against us regardless of what we actually do.
Why just last night, Fox apparently listed Foley as a Democrat on three separate occasions.

So, thanks for your concern, but I long ago ceased caring about what they may say against us.
