The Party of Personal Responsibility: It's not Foley's fault!

So Foley has a thing for young boys and enjoys having internet sex with them.

According to Force It on the Family (I'm sorry, "Focus"), Foley's transgressions are the fault of political correctness.

According to Matt Drudge, it's the fault of the kids themselves.

According to Foley's lawyer, it's the fault of the Catholic clergy.

And according to Foley himself, it's the fault of http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/02/us/politics/03foleycnd.html?ex=1317441600&en=2f836063b58586c7&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss">alchohol. And even if he does have a drinking problem, which he may not, it's not like he checked himself into rehab before he got caught.

For some reason, it feels like I'm missing one. But in any case, the most important lesson to glean from all this is that Foley's sexual advances to children are not his fault. Any guesses on the next scapegoat? My guess is Bill Clinton for fostering a culture of debauchery with his adulterous behavior. After all, if Rush Limbaugh can blame Clinton for the torture at Abu Ghraib, they sure as hell can blame him for this.

Has anybody done research on this? What an interesting defense he's foisting. Was abused by clergy. Can we track back to his childhood and investigate the schools/churches he went to. It would be interesting to see if their have been other claims on those institutions that could bear out this story.

I kinda saw this coming. After the initial shock of the Foley scandal hit and was discussed I saw some Repug apologists say that even the Catholic Church was not immune from pedophiles.

I guess some Repug think tank that runs damage control for the Repugs thought about connecting the dots and provided Foley and the Repugs with some semblance of an out for him/them.

Now we're to feel sorry for him. Takes the edge off.
