Brit Hume: Emails were innocuous
Just now on FoxNews. He was referring to the first emails that Hastert saw.

1. Does he have children? Do they chat?
When was Foley's screen name last spotted on AOL?

13. Hume's son Sandy killed himself in 1998.
If current or former Congressional pages kill themselves for being outed in the wake of the Foley story, old Brit probably has the same mechanical heart as Dick Cheney.

2. Brit Hume is an idiot.....
The emails were inocuously inappropriate....and Foley held a position that was supposed to protect children from these actions...

4. Remember that the email were a little vague... it's the IMs

Fox and Hastert are using that to downplay this. It's the IMs that were worse.

14. They were not vague. They were classic.
And the split second Foley asked for a picture, everything should have been clear to ANYONE.

16. where there is smoke there is fire
It is unbelievable to me that FOX news is trying to spin this. (OK NOT)

I think parents will see right through this. Fundie parents I know are all freaked out about MYSpace or just having their kids online anyway. They will know that enough was not done to protect the pages. Whether or not they stay away from the voting booth or vote D is another story.

5. Obviously faux news has no problem with pedophiles
Consensual sex between men and women over the age of 21 is the really bad stuff.

explain this away is beyond despicable.

10. E-mails or IMs. Either way
Fox and Hume are living in some warped parallel universe. When a 50 something year old Congressman asks a 16 (or was it 15 at the time?) boy to get a ruler and measure his erect penis, or discusses different masturbation techniques with the boy --- innocuous is not exactly the first word that springs to mind. Unless you're from Fox or the Bush White House where up is down and black is white, etc.

11. The emails I have seen have been rather innocuous
The IM's I have seen have been disgusting and revolting. Do NOT let these bastards get away with parsing words like this. This cannot stand in OUR Congress.
