ABC: sources say GOP Staffer Fordham being used scapegoat by Hastert

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/top_gop_staffer.html

Top GOP Staffer Reportedly Fired for Role in Page Scandal

The chief of staff for Republican Congressman Tom Reynolds, Kirk Fordham, was reportedly fired today for his role in the handling of the congressional page scandal, according to Republican sources on Capitol Hill.

Fordham, a former chief of staff for Congressman Mark Foley, reportedly urged Republican leaders not to raise questionable Foley e-mails with the full Congressional Page Board, made up of two Republicans and a Democrat.

"He begged them not to tell the page board," said one of the Republican sources.

People familiar with Fordham's side of the story, however, said Fordham was being used as a scapegoat by Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

They said Fordham had repeatedly warned Hastert's staff about Foley's "problem" with pages, but little was done.

2. Well, then...
If that's the truth, then I expect Mr. Fordham is just days away from blowing it out his barracks bag about all this.

This sort of thing does little to engender ceaseless loyalty.

7. Even if he did urge them to keep it quiet -- The Leaders listened
That's like blaming Mr. Jones for a robbery Mr. Smith commits at the suggestion of Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones may also be at fault, but the person who does the stealing is still the robber.

17. Praise God... The Truth Will Set You Free...
Let's get the word out that this is an attempt to use him as a scapegoat. No one should be celebrating his resignation. He's nothing. A no one. I only say that because if he goes it's not like our party wins back control of the House. However, if Fat Bastard and the other leadership goes... Nonethelesss, the fact that they're trying to throw him under the bus can work to our advantage politically by exposing this, and letting the voters know just how bloody corrupt these freaks truly are.

24. Fordham had repeatedly warned Hastert's staff about Foley
How typically 21st-Century Republican. A scandal breaks and the solution is shoot the messenger.

If Fordham warned Hastert's staff about goings on, then it is Hastert's staff who should be fired, not Fordham.

If Hastert is making Fordham a scapegoat, then he should be fired by the voters next month and by the GOP caucus now.
