Chairman DEAN needs to RELEASE $$$ NOW. Saving for 2008 is dumb.
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 02:14 PM by Sensitivity
Dean has said that he wants to save much of the DNC fund for "Party Building" for 2008.

But, as they say "MAKE HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES" and the sun is shining as never before.
A confluence of circumstances -- NIE, WOODWARD, FOLLEY --have given us an unprecedented chance to throw out the devils. For the first time in years the MSM have been sucked into a frenzy
of exposing the Pukes.

Dems keep believing that the Republican dollar advantage can be overcome by Dem organizing.
NOT RECENTLY! Unfortunately, the people we want to reach don't seem to be reached
by the usual Dem methods.

Rep smear advertising works. Dems have to counter this crap or we can easily loose the
advantage that we now have with this perfect media storm.

Dear Dr. Dean, NOW IS THE TIME.

It's ESSENTIAL that we take one or both houses.

3. See debate on "Thought Theater"
http://www.thoughttheater.com/2006/08/political_strategy_voter_mobil.php

Under Dean's guidance the DNC has spent significant dollars building a Party structure in each state, a move that Thought Theater has previously equated with the business model of building a middle management team. While the Party clearly needs to have a presence in more states, funding that effort this election cycle may take money away from competitive races and hamper the overall effort to fund get out the vote initiatives.

7. Hillary paints the big picture of what is happening
Clinton, D-N.Y., who opposed Dean's ascendancy to the DNC post depite Sen. John Kerry's support, said Dean's long-term party-building efforts should take a back seat to fundraising for the midterm elections, Newsday reports.

"The is pouring tens of millions of dollars into races and we're not matching that," Clinton said during a DNC fundraiser in Washington, D.C.

"We're doing investments, you know, in ground and other efforts which will be very beneficial, but the RNC has about $60 million to $70 million waiting to drop on our candidates," she said, according to Newsday.

of that for other 2006 candidates also. She isn't using most of her warchest for 2006.

17. Hillary needs to let go of some millions....Is this organized today?
of her millions and millons.

She has a different broader picture than some others of us do. Dean is giving extra to the DCCC for ground GOTV stuff. Sane to DSCC, though the amount is not determined.

Hillary and her cohorts have enough to form their own party. In fact some think they might have.

Is this an organized attempt today about Dean? Just asking.

Not everybody is like a monkey that gets his jollies slinging crap at everything in sight. I don't think people will vote for a party that looks like a cage of shit slinging monkeys, so maybe we better just stick to calling for accountability and move forward with local campaigns as we've been doing.

10. I don't think it is just money that wins races. I tend to agree with Dean
on this. The Repubs are wasting some of the money they have been spending. The attack adds in PA aren't working against Casey and it would appear to me the good karma is with the Dem's.Sure we need some money for races, but when is enough enough. We were at a disadvantage in 04 and 2000 because we had no grassroots efforts- thanks to the DLC and the Clinton's. The repubs won because they mobilized and got out more voters- using their ground people.
Senator Clinton only knows how to spend money to win. She is not heading the DNC nor are any of her people. They need to step aside and let others do their jobs without interfering.

27. But, you miss the point. The SBV could of been countered more
effectively if we had more ground people supporting him and the Dem pundits did their jobs. I am not convinced more money thrown the way of the media would have changed their continued airing of the lies. Strong voices in support of Senator Kerry would have helped immensely. Where was Senator Clinton's voice back then?

45. So, you are suggesting we pay them off or strong arm them like the
Republicans in order to win races? And, if you are suggesting that we need to saturate the airways with political commercials, I would like to counter with commercials become ineffective after a while, people tune them out. i have been involved in politics off and on for many years and I am always moved when I hear someone tell me how much it meant to them that a candidate cared enough to meet and great the voters.
If Senator Kerry erred in regards to the SBV, it was that he should of come out to defend himself more. Doing so through commercials might of done some good, but the Senator defending himself in interviews and during rallies would have been more convincing. Hindsight is a kick in the rear, unfortunately.

as well as federal? Why don't the DSCC and DCCC help him fund those things.

I hate to say this, but ever since it came out mid September that he outraised the other two groups....there is this orchestrated attempt to stop the 50 state strategy for now.

If it stops for now, it is effectively stopped forever.

Besides building the party, getting ready for 08, and keeping Rahm and Chuck happy....Dean has to help win back the state legislatives and the governor's races.

Why are they whining so much and not helping do that?

And all the 08 possibles are hoarding millions and millions? Don't they want to win back local races and state races?

They must not care about the party.

32. You want more"penny-wise/pound-foolish" crap from the Democrats?

This Time, Dean's Right

By Charlie Cook
© National Journal
March 11, 2006

-snip-
While Pelosi and Reid are right that control of the Senate will be decided by races in just eight or nine states and that, likewise, a small fraction of House districts will truly be in play, they ignored one set of facts. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee exists solely to win House races. On the Senate side, there's the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. For the party's governors, there is the Democratic Governors' Association. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee was created to boost candidates for state legislatures. And the GOP, of course, has comparable committees for all of its candidates.

The primary responsibility of the DNC is not to win House, Senate, gubernatorial, or state legislative races, but to build and sustain a national party and to oversee the presidential conventions and nomination process. The same is true of the Republican National Committee. No other entities within the two major parties are charged with those missions.

-snip-
The Democratic congressional leaders' shortsighted, penny-wise/pound-foolish complaints show why their party has become bicoastal. Congressional Democrats have trouble winning in many interior states, in part because leaders like Reid and Pelosi have failed to appreciate the importance of maintaining a strong national party apparatus. The Democrats' inability to consistently win elections in places where gun shops outnumber Starbucks is a big reason the party controls neither the House nor the Senate.

Right now, one of the biggest obstacles to Democrats' taking the House back is their failure to recruit strong candidates in many Republican-held districts that ought to be in play. Party building means lining up a solid team -- organizing and winning lower-level offices that give the party a talented bench from which to draw for higher contests.

Dean's view -- that Pelosi, Reid, and their party committees have their jobs and he has his -- is the one that he ought to stick to. He should also resist pressure from interest groups, such as the Congressional Black Caucus, whose members raise very little money for the DCCC even though a Democratic takeover of the House would elevate many black lawmakers to chairmanships.

Howard, stick to your guns.

41. All of us are committed. So is he.
Rahm and Chuck have their jobs to do, he has his job to do. Since his job description involves state and local races, it is larger than the description for the DSCC and DCCC.

So by that reasoning, they should give money to him.

42. Repubs don't just have a dollar advantage, they're also
much better organized than Dems. All they need for a midterm is some issue to motivate their base (bonus points for de-motivating Dems). Herr Bushler's torture bill was supposed to be their '06 wedge, driven home with the "Democrats are soft on Terrorism" talking point.

Things aren't going quite the way they planned right now (thank you, Reps. Foley and Hastert), but, in terms of organization, they've got a big lead on the Dems. It took 'em years to build it up, and it'll probably take us years to catch up. More likely, the Repubs will destroy themselves and save us the trouble.

OTOH, they might just take us all down with them.

Rep have unified financial control and a focused approach to smearing just
