The Animal Enterprise Terrorism act is already on the greatest page here.

Some of you might remember the attempt by Ashcroft a few years ago to classify Greenpeace as a terrorist group because they exposed illegal loggingpeacefully.

http://www.csrwire.com/synd/business-ethics/article.cgi/2329.html

In bringing the charges, the Justice Department dredged up an obscure 1872 law against "sailor-mongering" that legal experts believe has not been used since the 19th century.

Google Greenpeace and "sailor-mongering" and you come up with tons of info. on that completely baseless case.

Now, I am a committed environmentalist and animal activist but I have never supported any form of violence for either-apart from all the other ethical reasons against violence, I think it does the cause harm. But this was never about actually stopping violence or vandalism-this is about silencing people whose opinions you don't like. They have gunned for enviros from the start of this so-called War on Terror...
When the spying, wire-tapping stuff came out there were scores of stories about how they were observing peaceful, harmless anti-war activists, enviros and animal activists. They were monitoring a group called "Food not bombs" that gives out vegetarian food to homeless people.

I never -of course- believed that any of this was about "WOT" -but its interesting that they are showing their hand more and more now.

The wording of the animal terrorism bill is very creepy...vandalism, property destruction etc. are already criminal acts....what are they trying to do with this bill...?

ASPCA is a very respectable group-even if you are dustrustful of PETA, there is no reason to be distrustful of the ASPCA. They wouldn't be sounding an alarm if there is not reason for it...

This is a descent into fascism...if we see something that seem cruel or inhumane or wrong, we are supposed to STFU about it....

This isn't about a WOT anymore than Gitmo was (what is it-like 5% of the people on Gitmo that have ever been charged with anything-and who knows how bogus those are?)

Just felt the need to vent.....

:grr: :grr:
