19. The Amish are very big on forgiveness as they believe

(as all Christians are suppose to) that if they want God to forgive them, they must forgive those who wrong them. This has been mentioned on the news several times. Apparently the Amish really, really try to live up to this.

I suppose Phelps and his crowd just can't deal with Christians who don't hate.

Oh lovely... more media coverage for these horrendous anti-Christian POS and their message of HATE.

It's mostly ig in mouth and hate not size from what I understand so why does the media give them the time of day no less any real coverage? (and who is Mike Gallagher? I am sooo out of the loop without much TV.)

which said that they were going to pick the funerals. The OP subject line has since changed to reflect what the linked actually article says.

But, you are right. I was born in Kansas and I live in Kansas. Those Phred and phamily are an embarrassment to my state. I don't think they deserve as much attention as they get and, personally, I wish the state would adjudicate them mentally ill and get them help.

20. Same here

I've been to more than one protest where those idiots showed up.

They picketed at the funeral of one of my friends who was gay and died of AIDS back in the late 90's. Idiots that they are, they showed up early and began their picket during a wedding. So they ended up intruding on two private ceremonies instead of one.

enough to have a friend die like that but to have to deal with Phelps bunch spewing their horrile BS and hate must have made it that much more difficult. :hug:

crazies will do a radio show instead; Amish don't listen to radio so they won't be subjected to the hatespeak. I applaud Rendell for saying he'd ask Amish elders if they wanted state police protection for the funerals. Maybe that helped with their decision.

Phelps came to Littleton to protest the killers as evil homosexuals (since their classmates called them "fags" often), as if killing a dozen people was only a secondary concern. In another case, a 13-year old boy committed suicide because his classmates called him similar names, even though he wasn't really gay, and Phelps protested his funeral because of that.
