Go RANDI! Pedophilia is not an act of sex!
It's an act of violence and has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

She gave a perfect description of victim of pedohilia.

1. Pedophilia is not necessarily an act of violence.
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 03:51 PM by greyl
It begins within the realm of fantasy or attraction, and may stay there.
It does have a lot to with sex, sorry Randi.

edit: clarity

10. No, it's a sexual attraction which may or may not
result in an action.

11. I agree that you can be attracted and not act on this.
but part of the attraction is control. (I am deleting the violence part since I wrote this in error, used to responding so to rape things, but this is pedophelia and my fingers got ahead of my brain, so to speak)

13. Attracted to prepubescents because they are vulnerable?
Yeah, I'm sure that's a component.
Similar to why high-heels are supposed to be attractive.

14. Yes.
There are all sorts of variations on sexuality, what attracts whom why when how. Main problems I can see are (1) getting stuck on something that ends up being more negative or doesn't work anymore, of any type sex stuff and (2) acting on something that is hurtful. Other than that, whatever. Pedophelia seems to have a component of attraction to the vulnerable.

High heels emphasize legs and butt (shortening calf muscles) and make it more difficult to get around (vulnerable I guess).

15. The "difficult" to run away angle
is what I was referring to. I think I heard that from my girlfriend (Women's Studies).

2. Wasn't Foley a child safety advocate?
It seems to me that child safety advocates are preoccupied with sex with children.

5. I guess they fall in two general camps.
1. Republicans.

2. People who think it's a Karl Rove plot to distract us from the real issue of how George Bush caused the tsunami.

12. It's actually a fantastic 'leader'
Woodward is on Hardball giving a pretty fascinating interview. Lots of people tuned in for Foleygate and stuck around to hear this which they may have not heard otherwise.

16. Quite a few DUers
I'll take a good legit sex scandal any day -- it gets the masses attention. Especially this one: many kids were molested, and those children are now adults. THey don't like this, especially the GOP leadership brushing it aside.
