BREAKING: Foley turned away DRUNK from PAGES' DORM!!

Clerk asked to look into report of Foley incident at page's dorm

By Larry Wheeler
Florida Today
WASHINGTON — A senior House Republican has asked the House clerk to look into allegations that then-Rep. Mark Foley was turned away from the congressional page dorm on Capitol Hill after arriving there intoxicated one night.

Lawmakers have been talking about the alleged incident since Friday, when Foley resigned amid reports he sent sexually explicit Intenet e-mails to a House page.

U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio, is calling for a further investigation of the dorm report.
“Congresswoman Pryce contacted the clerk and asked her to look into this rumor,” said Geoff Embler, a spokesman for Pryce.

Rep. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, asked Pryce and other House leaders, including House Speaker Dennis Hastert, about the alleged incident during a conference call Monday evening, Embler said.

edit to add tantalizing tidbit -
CNN…

Dana Bash said earlier that there’s a rumor floating around D.C. about yet another REPUBLICAN lawmaker that’s about to be named in a SEX scandal. Hmm…

Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 11:42 AM by Chipster
Erika, you summed it up beautifully! Foley had a long history for enticing male pages.

"Tyson Vivyan, 26, speaks about former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley during an interview in Atlanta, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. Vivyan claims Foley sent him sexually suggestive messages after he served as a congressional page 10 years ago. He said Thursday that Foley began sending him instant messages about a month or two after his nine-month stint as a page ended in June 1997."

This guy is a pedophile and a user. Foley gives alcoholics and gays a bad name. He is using them as scapegoats for his own moral depravity, just as he used the page system with the knowledge and acquiescence of the GOP (now known as "Groping Old Pedophiles") as a serial enticer to perversion. For him to now scapegoat the church is ludicrous: "A priest got me started, so I enticed others."

Foley is a smarmy little dick without the balls to be gay.

Should the majority party that provided him cover for his perversion for years be investigating this?

61. They're in Disinformation Mode
Which one, indeed! Foley is a serial predator, and my hunch is that it's only a matter of time before someone verifies that he got lucky with a minor. And it's going to take courage to do so, as I read earlier that reporting pages and their families are being subjected to threats.

52. Smearing Alcoholics
I agree with you. It might be true, but I think it's a gambit. He didn't claim his "alcoholism" until he was looking for an excuse for his criminal behavior. There's no doubt that Foley could use a month out to access his life, but rehab is a good way to keep him sequestered while the GOP does damage control, too, just like resigning meant he kept his pension even though he violated House ethics rules.

Call me cynical, I've but watching these folks in action.

56. I really don't see how this revelation makes him look any better.
He, drunk, sought to engage in impropitious sexual acts with his subordinates? That makes him look worse in my mind. Just because he was out of control while drunk does not make him an alcoholic. Everybody does stupid stuff when they are drunk. And even if he is an alcoholic, which I really don't feel any authority to doubt, how does that make it any better? His actions are no more excusable simply becuase he is an alcoholic.

6. Why has the news media been covering this up?
I'm sorry, but with all the revelations spilling out about this guys behavior for the last 3 or 4 years, I can no longer believe that members of the news media didn't know anything about it.

They are as culpable here as the GOP leaders. The country's bastion of "professional journalists" has stood by silently while this (and goodness knows what else) has gone on. They owe the public an answer also. Pronto.

Were the police called? Was anyone called? Or did those in charge at the page dorm protect Foley by not reporting it to anyone? If they were and there is no report we should remind all the RWingers what they said about Kennedy getting special treatment when he had an auto accident.

43. Being seen drunk once does not an alcoholic make
I see where they're trying to go with this... blame it on alcoholism. Anyone who drinks has probably had an embarrassing experience at some point. I find it plausible that it may have happened, however, seeing as nobody can seem to recall Foley being any kind of drinker at all much less an out of control drinker, I have my doubts.

And if it DID happen, WHY THE FUCK WAS IT COVERED UP?!

I think they better latch onto a different excuse on the list... this one isn't going to fly.
