PLACE YOUR BETS, 10 MINUTES LEFT: WILL HASTERT ANNOUNCE HIS RESIGNATION
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 12:07 PM by berni_mccoy
At 1:15pm today? He's coming out of his spider-hole to make a "dramatic" statement.

House odds: 2:1 in favor of not resigning.

Eventually, I think his resignation is likely. But right now he still thinks he can stay on as Speaker.

54. Bingo! Was watching Tweety the other night when they had some
rethug on saying the page program should be suspended. Dem was there and made comments saying he disagreed and the page program was a good program.

Like typical rethug thinking....if they suspend the program..no more potential problems.

38. remember, this is the party that never admits they are wrong
He will 'retire' after the election. Remember, he wanted to retire before his last election, and Jr. talked him out of it. Probably because he needed leadership that was being blackmailed effectively to stay in the House and in lockstep. They threatened him with exposure and of outing investigations into his activities a few months back, when Denny had the temerity to squawk about the search of Jefferson's office. Hmmmm.

I don't think he'll step down. Good let the dirt just keep building up and closer and closer to the election.
Somebody important, behind the scenes, is pushing back on this cabal, big time, or this would not be happening.
