Daily Show: What Exactly Is President Bush’s Job?
By: SilentPatriot @ 4:22 AM - PDT

Jon has come to the conclusion that Bush's job approval rating is so dismal (36% according to the latest TIME poll) that the reason has to be that Americans just don't know exactly what his job is. So, using the Bush's own words, Jon digs into the Presidential vault and tries to answer this pressing question.

Stewart also gives Congress some suggestions on how to spend their $20 million Iraq/Afghanistan War celebration money and explains Bush's comma remark and Tony Snows attempt at putting it "into context".

1. The Presidents' job is to protect & defend the Constitution.
In that respect, Bush is the Bizzaro President - doing his best to shred & destroy the Constitution.

5. Why don't the Dems...
do TV spots showing Dumbya saying some of the dumb shit that Jon shows?

A 10 second spot could be devastating.

15. I've been saying that since 1999: that's ALL they needed to do.
just show him TALKING.

nothing else

''it's hard to put food on your family''

''man and fish can coexist peacefully''

''is our children learning''

there are ENDLESS examples of that; it's all that would have been needed

8. Its not a quicktime video
It uses flash player. You probably need to turn on active content in your IE browser or install a flash plugin.

10. John Stewart is amazing. He's right up there with Keith Olbermann.
Entirely different MO's but both just as effective. The great thing is that John Stewart is reaching so many young people that "normal" news doesn't.

11. You're right. But I like Bill Maher better. He is totally unplugged
and says the most hysterical stuff. Called Bush - President Idiot NumbNuts the other night.

17. I like Bill, but think Jon is better
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 09:07 PM by Laurab
Jon's on CC, and has about 5 minutes a night to actually say anything. He doesn't have total control of his show, and has more "corporate masters". Bill's on HBO, and can get away with just about anything, and he does. He really knows his stuff most of the time. He also has a week to prepare his show. I AM often amazed at some of the stuff he says, and I don't ever miss his show.

I guess the reason I like Jon (and Colbert) better, is that I think they do more with less freedom, and I also think they do a LOT to educate young people. I appreciate what Bill Maher does, but a lot of times I think he's looking out for Bill first. I feel like Jon and Stephen are more concerned about the country than their egos. That being said, it doesn't really matter what drives Bill Maher, as long as he keeps doing what he does. I do think he's brilliant, I just like Jon and Stephen better.

I'd love to see Jon and Stephen let loose on HBO for an hour a week - THAT I can't even imagine!
