GOP runs attack ads in Iowa, calls congressional candidate a "commie"
A new Republican television ad links Democratic congressional candidate Bruce Braley to the Communist Party and says he’s supported by “ultra liberals.”

(snip)

The ad says Braley was endorsed by the Council for a Livable World and was called a “peace candidate” by the Communist Party.

The council, the new ad says, advocates “huge defense cuts” and has a leader that once proposed negotiating with the Taliban.

It concludes by saying Braley’s support from “ultra liberals” shows he’s “out of touch” with Iowa.

Why do all these whackjobs seek to emulate Frank Burns?

1. I was thinking of Tailgunner Joe myself.
They want to recreate the red scare, that much is clear. They want to create a society in which to express liberal views is to come under suspicion.

2. Didn't Frist just propose negotiating with the Taliban? Does that make

4. The add is a joke!
Mike Whalen the scum bag rethug running the adds is a pompous, stuck-up, snot-nosed, English, giant, twerp, scumbag, fuck-face, dick head, asshole. And those are his good points. Bruce has been saying all along that he is sick an tired of *. He carries the Constitution with him every where he goes to speak and tells people he is sick of * violating this document and treating it like toilet paper.

6. Nostalgia pathos
is there some older GOP demographic that might wistfully enjoy hearing some of this drivel again, once more, for old times sake? It means nothing to the younger generations and is absurd unless you actively enjoyed the McCarthy era witch hunts.

This is more lie a trip down memory lane by a drunken washout. Sad, sad sad. And yes, this is what they are reduced to. Even the name-calling is regressive.

Get with the times, guys. Start calling Democrats terrorists. I know it's just as ridiculous, but at least it's up to date.
