Granted they're tolerating Olbermann for now. But I can't imagine they'd have more than one tokan progressive.

The asshole running the political desk in DC was a GOP cheerleader as well (you know him, Timmy the Potato). He piled on, and helped with the shitty mindset, along with others.

It was all an exercise in taking the proverbial path of least resistance. Dick Ebersol was the 'sanity guy' and he had a lot to do with getting Olbermann not only up and running (to substitute for dying Jerry) but letting him stay instead of going to the Greek Olympics. Then, Countdown caught on, and the rest was history.

In his new book "Cable News Confidential: My Misadventures in Corporate Media," Cohen alleges that NBC News forced Donahue to book more conservatives than liberals and eventually wanted one of the nation's best-known liberal media figures to imitate O'Reilly."

Jack Welch took that fat fuck Tim Russert under his wing and gave him lectures about why the GOP is best for America. Russert not only bought it hook, line, and STINKER, he demonstrated his loyalty by flashing his BUSH CHENEY pin tucked under his lapel at the annual Al Smith dinner. Jack also 'educated' Tweety bird, as well, along with others at the entire NBC franchise outlets.

There was no 'timidity' at all. The suits were leaning on MSNBC to tack right. It wasn't fear, it was an aggressive strategy.

The problem was, their viewers were moderates, centrists and the odd lefty who couldn't bear the other outlets and had once found MSNBC slightly less offensive, and they started dropping off in droves.

What changed was Jack Welch retiring and getting out of the picture. Someone oughta kick that fool's ass from here to eternity.

wonderful pipe dream to think that a network news channel like MSNBC could go progressive!!!...Faux on the Right, MSNBC on the Left..with Mike, Keith and other courageous and outspoken truthies. Imagine the guest list!

They might just discover a real gold mine there if they had the courage to actually take the risk. And the timing is perfect...sort of like the timing was for the neocons who staked their claim back at the turn of the screw.
