GOP's "Heck of a Job, Denny" Sunday morning talk show moment

Reading about the GOP appearances on the sunday talking head shows suggests an almost uniform endorsement of Hastert, and attempt to somehow blame the GOPs problems (esp Hastert's problems) onto democrats. No evidence offered, of course.

Underlying the meme I can't help but here an echo of bush after Katrina... "Heck of a Job Brownie!"

Because the implied message is that Hastert did right to do nothing (ergo Foley should still be congressman and preying on pages?), or that the Hastert issue is one of timing not of inaction (as if the newspapers had reported the story in the summer - the outcome of revelations of Hastert having done nothing would change), makes it hard to believe that ANYONE but the die hards would buy the line.

Those on the talk circuit today are just as clueless to how the public is regarding the whole sordid/corrupt mess as bush was in the wake of Katrina.

Go on GOPguys - keep up the chorus of "Heck of a job Denny" - because each elected GOPer who does moves him or herself from outside of the story into the middle of the public perception that the GOP doesn't care about what happened - that keeping power (and $$ why else did no one pressure Foley out before? It was a safe seat. Why? Because he regularly gave $100,000 fixes to the RNCC and more $ directly to other GOP candidates) is important - and that kids of America are irrelevant.

I sincerely believe that those GOP folks keeping out of the story - will not see much of a direct effect on their polling numbers. But, that those who step into the fray - will. Call it there "Heck of a job, Denny" moment.

I'm gonna make that my sig line I think!

Unless they can claim to be cognitively disabled. Of course, if they are reduced to making such a claim, it will be Clinton's fault.

Did you notice how quickly "heck of a job Dennie" brought up 'Clinton Operatives' as a causal root to this PR fiasco?

Does anybody--hardcore freepers and bushbots, aside--even believe the "Clinton is responsible for everything" meme, anymore? It seems that they've flogged that horse to a thousand deaths.

But I know they intend to resurrect it, in anti-Hillary form, if she runs. Chris Matthews has already been spewing the GOP's "bad Hillary" talking points, for months now. He seems to be down on her roughly to the same degree that he's shamelessly enamored of Tom DeLay. Oh, well, for the moment, he's a useful idiot, on the Foleygate issue.
