Everything seems to be going too good to be true today
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 01:53 PM by Quixote1818
Bush is depressed and taking out his anger on fellow Republicans
Foley scandal still going strong
Reynolds going down in polls big time
McCaskill did awesome in the debate
TIME cover
Newsweek cover
Bush's poll numbers plummeting
JD Hayworth losing endorsements
State of Denial book dogging Bush
Polls moving our direction in races all over the place
etc. etc. etc.

I want to remember this day on DU because it's like a dream.

Their is no way things stay this awesome until election day. Something negative has to break in our direction, but right now it's like I am in heaven!

11. He "forgot" to reveal a bunch of his stock options, as required by law.
And it looks like he was steering Gov. business to at least
one of the companies he held options in.

17. Unless you're a RePub; in which case "pocket lining" is just a bonus.
NEVER FORGET: "money" is not a THING.
It is a medium which is EXCHANGED for "Things".
MONEY is not IMPORTANT, it is CONVENIENT.

"Money" is never more than the means to a particular END.

Ordinary perverts need to exchange money in return
for molesting young teens...and they need to offer
much MORE money for corrupt authorities to pretend
to be unaware of their crimes.

Election to Republican Office just cuts out that whole
"$$$" middleman. Once you are in High Office with an (R)
after your name, you can freely indulge your most dark &
twisted urges in the knowledge that the people authorized
to protect society will be covering for you, no matter
what you do.

Showing up to VOTE the way the Repub leaders tell you to
gives you free reign to spend the rest of your time lying,
cheating, stealing, supporting Nazi ideals, or getting
sexual with children.

3. I know what you are saying
The eternal Democratic pessimism is plaguing me. I have hoped and prayed and worked and fought for every election in the past 22 years and I have rarely been happy afterwards. It's is like being a Boston Red Sox fan, but didn't they win one finally too?

4. If the republicans have a scandal to break, they better break it quick
It's taken a full week for the Foley scandal to soak in and do optimal damage. I think if they had something good it would have broke by now. I suspect they will have something but nothing like this Foley scandal which is like GOLD! The Woodward book is like Gold as well.

The Foley scandal will be here to stay for a decade or more.

A defining moment that will reverberate in a way The Monica scandal never could.

And there are still more revelations to come.

Edit: spelling.

5. The only thing missing to make the list complete
is a transparent, verifiable system for voting.

Paper ballots, hand counted and recorded by video cameras.

10. Yes lets not get over-confident
this is all heartening stuff and the republicans are self-imolating
but we got weeks to go until election day. We need to keep
control of the conversation... and the repukes will do ANYTHING
to seize it back.

(but goodness.. it is good stuff isn't it... wooohoo)

12. The Elite Have Finally Decided to Take Away
some power from the Republican party. This is what happens when an unspoken consensus develops at power lunches and golf outings. As everyone here knows, there have been potential scandals out the gazoo for the last five years, but they quickly buried.

I don't believe judgment or accountability has anything to do with this. All the benefits to the elite from tax cuts and sweetheart deals are being outweighed by the effects of graft and incompetence.
