Compared to the Abramoff scandal
this Mark Foley thing is really tiny, in terms of the damage that it has done to the US. The Abramoff scandal revealed something close to a stealth coup d'état. But the public seems to have forgotten about Abramoff, and no serious legislation has been passed to prevent these kinds of things in the future. I want to see something done, if the Dems regain power in Nov! Just make it easier for whistleblowers to come forward, for instance.

1. I agree with you 100 percent...
There are so many things this administration has been involved in that make the Foley thing pale by comparison -- but if Foley is what it takes to bring the Republicans down, then so be it. We can clean up the other stuff later (hopefully).

2. Yes, I agree. If a speeding infraction
Is what gets the big criminal boss caught, that's good enough for me! :) But let's not forget that anything the media does is not to protect us. It's to get high ratings.

5. Does this have something to do with
Rove's aid Ralston recently resigning? I heard she used to work for Abramoff, and he suggested to Rove that she would be good to handle things with him.

7. Yes, speculation's running that way. After Moyers' PBS
special on Abramoff aired last Wednesday, she resigned Friday.
If you look around, the Moyers piece is available online.
It was well worth watching and a real eye-opener.

13. I think...

...Abramoff, Cunningham, Ney, Noe and the pages are going to blow the whistle on the GOP Congress. I think Ralston might blow the whistle on Plame-AIPAC-ATC-Aragoncillo and Rove-Abramoff WH visits.

15. Abramoff has no ethics... He's gonna BLOW THE WHISTLE
to save his own skin. All of them are like that. It's the only good thing about them being such selfish bastards.

8. I agree totally
But, has anything been written about Linda Ralston ( former assistant to Abramoff, Rove and Bush ) and her timely 'resignation' in the past 24 hours?? She could be the link to Rove and Hastert.. hell, to -all- of them probably. Hastert's self righteous denial of the Foley scandal, and his weak attempt at 'Rove-spin' is just a symptom of his desperate attempt to cover-up a much larger crack in the dam, imho.

According to Moyers, there is much more to the Abramoff scandal that is yet to be revealed. This is the perfect time. I wish I knew how to shine a huge spotlight on this story.

9. Compared to the Abramoff scandal, this Foley thing is resonating
to the hundredth power with the voting public.

Susie and Harry Voter, who don't gamble and don't know any Native Americans, don't frankly give a shit about Indians getting ripped off or lobbying firms making big money, or junkets to Scotland.

But they DO care about their children getting approached and recruited by a pervert.

I honestly do not care if we use the vaccuum cleaner or the broom to sweep the crap off the Hill. If the voting public is too dumb to "get" Abramoff, or the Iraq War (what, me worry? So say the putzes with no kid in the fight), or the rampant drunken-sailor spending, the general culture of corruption, well then, we'll just have to make do with PredatorGate.

Whatever works.

16. Sure it was, but that's not my point. Ya want a primer on Jacko, PBS
is running a great show that is well worth a look.

The point I made was that the Foley scandal resonates more with Joe and Jane Voter. You may not like that fact, but it's true. The soccer mom and security mom of yore is the mom-who-doesn't-want-GOPerverts-messing-with-her-kids.

14. Congress dismissed Abramoff because it didn't 'poll' well with their folks
Sex is something else. Nothing like sex to get the horny right wingers up in arms.
