has ever imagined? What if Mark Foley was only the tip of the iceberg? What if illegal activities were going on in the Congress of the United States and both Parties covered for the crimes of the other? What if all the conspiracy theories about "child-sex" rings and "escort services" are true? What if we are all naive about what goes on behind the closed doors and after hours in Congress? What if we are being played for fools, just like James Dobson and all the right-wingers are played for fools by the Republican Party? What if Andy Stephenson was really onto a real story when he was reporting on the Cannon story when it broke? Is this a conspiracy theory that we should not think about? :tinfoilhat:

but I feel in my bones that Alaska's Don Young is into the corruption up to his neck...not the sexual kind necessarily, but most definitely the bribes and payoffs.

Republican Oath


I'm a Republican Because...

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.

I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.

I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.

I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

I don't believe the animosity that some Democratic members display toward the repukes is faked. Nor do I believe the hate the repukes spiel at Democratic politicians is faked. They honestly hate each other and are in a death struggle for power. We can only hope that one set of crooks will keep an eye on the other set of crooks.

Do people tend to look the other way? Yes. That is a vocational skill that most people learn early in their Washington careers. Is that a bad thing? Not usually. If there are consenting adults involved, I'd rather not even know. Sin and sodomy and adultry -- matters between husbands and wives, patients and psychiatrists, sinners and confessionals. As a general rule, I don't want to read about it in the newspapers or see it on TV, unless I'm watching Desperate Housewives.

However, if there is a child sex ring, slavery, human trafficking, snuff movies, human hunting, or torture, send in the FBI and the perps can be publicly hanged. It is somehow particularly fitting that most of those who get involved in the really sick, painful and degrading behaviors hold the most reactionary politics, and seem to make it their business to be custodians of public morality.

Yes, this scandal has been kind of fun. I have to admit that I got a particular kick learning that the Speaker of the House resides with his male Chief of Staff and another male staffer, a former intern in Hastert's office when he was a state legislator.

But, let's not stay into this too long. It stinks and that can rub off on you.

Over the course of the last 12 years, every time I think, it can't get any more absurd, they prove me wrong and usually exponentially wrong.
Foley the tip of the iceberg? Most probable.
I wake up in the mornings lately and wonder, what stupid acts will we hear about the republicans today?

I thought it was known that Government officials are corrupt, use thier position to enrich themselves and their cronies, attack their enemies and indulge all their base instincts...

I thought that Polybius dude wrote down the blueprint for Government like 2200 years ago...
