Phil Ochs on YouTube - a truthteller for all time.
For those of you who have never hear his voice, listen. But maybe first go read some of his words here, since the Youtube excerpts are so short:

The lyrics site: http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics.html

But start here, and tell me what is not true about today "White Boots Marching In A Yellow Land":
http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics/white-boots.html

Or here: "The Cannons of Christianity"
http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics/cannons.html

And many more.

Then go to YouTube for some video

1. Would it be rude if I mentioned

Dave Van Ronk in this thread?

If so, please accept my apologies.

It's just that I can't think of Phil Ochs without thinking of Dave Van Ronk.

Not enough people remember Dave, or Phil for that matter.

Nice find.

4. Quite relevant. And Tom Paxton as well.
Not as painfully intense, but equally compassionate - http://www.tompaxton.com/

Today we have many truthtellers.

David Rovics, Billy Bragg, Ani DiFranco, Niel Young (then and now), NOFX, and many more -- see http://www.benfrank.net/nuke/Free_Peace_mp3s.html for many of them. But few match Ochs, Van Ronk and Paxton (and Dylan, Guthrie (father and son), and Lennon, among the better known).

He is missed.

5. Several of his songs can be heard hear, in full.

Not the top ten or fifteen, in my view, but at least the songs are not truncated to 15-30 second excerpts.

Pleasures of the Harbor, Flower Lady, Love me I'm a Liberal, and those mentioned above, and many more are missing. But for those don't have anything by him, these are a treasure. Listen. Listen carefully.
