Uh oh...KO seems to be helping set up the "Democrats can't win" meme.
His talking-head guest Chris Czsszzlszlz (sp?) is pointing out that most people are still going to vote for their local reps and don't care about Iraq, pedophiles, etc, and nothing will change.

In fairness, Czsszzlszlz claims that the new numbers indicate that a Dem victory is "plausible." But the story seems to be "Oh well, this is nothing new...people will vote for security."

Soften 'em up. Get 'em ready for the amazing election results. We're already getting the "boy, it's soooooo close" crap already, when the race isn't even close at all.

We've been through this before. I hope we aren't falling for it again.

2. I didn't interpret their comments that way at all.
They were mainly talking about how many seats were needed and which were most likely wins. It sounded pretty positive to me, over all.

6. Okay, maybe I need to watch the 12:00 re-run.
It seemed to me like the guy was trying to present a plausible explanation of how the 'pubs can still win because the American people just don't care about this kind of stuff.

I guess I didn't hear it right...I'll try again.

4. when you see a poll like Dems 53% GOP 39% it is meaningless
people still vote for "the person" in their state.

It will be close and I'm not at all sure we'll win.

Wanna do something about it? Volunteer with Howard Dean if you can take the day off November 7. He'll put you to work.

9. BINGO!
I guess that is what I got out of it, too. We all bitch about everyone else's Congressman, then go ahead and re-elect our own. So nothing changes. We always think it's the guy in the other district that is screwing things up, not My Rep, who just got our town more money for the new Community Center project. So the cycle perpetuates. If we can't hold our own reps up to the same standard (disgust?) of everyone else's reps, how will this ever change?

Here's a fun quiz...How many of you reading this plan on re-electing your own rep?

15. I don't know him from Adam
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 08:22 PM by Atman
What is his voting record, party affiliation, etc? What are the "pertinents?" Why do you support him? Did he build a bridge in your town, or has he really, honestly fought to uphold your Constitutional rights?

Explain to me why YOUR rep should be re-elected, but every other rep in the country must go.

Rangel can stay too.

13. Yes, the regional gerrymandering makes the "50-40" numbers meaningless..
It's more like 80-20 in each individual district. Maybe not quite that bad but one gets the idea.

8. I keep trying to wrap my tongue around that name
Is it a hissing sound or a buzzing sound?

"Czsszzlszlz" :rofl:

They really hate our optimism, don't they? We believe we can overcome and it just kills 'em to admit it might be so.

19. I Hope Ya Got Pissed...
We need everyone to stay mad and work hard for another 4 weeks. This election is far from in the bag and we need to believe we're 5 to 10 points down in every race.

Just like we hate when the corporate media decides an issue for us, let's not let them decide this election. It has to be won on the ground...and it has to be won as if Foley never existed.

My greatest fear since the Busbee election last Spring is not Repugnicans staying home, but Democrats. Votes that we took for granted but never bothered to follow up on and get to the polls.

So if you're pissed at Keith, be pissed at Kos as well and several others who refuse to think Democrats will win control of either House this fall. I'm of that mindset, too...since I'd rather be pleasantly surprised the day after the election for once rather than bitterly let down.

21. I think he's merely reiterating the importance of the gerrymandering
which was put in place a long time ago by Delay. It's that redistricting that puts a fly in the ointment and should not be overlooked.

24. This guy was almost a compete ass on last night's show.
Someone can find the transcript if they want, I'll rely on my ears.

He said "throw the bums out" basically, vote'em all out if you want real change.

THEN...............

Keith asked him if he planned to vote for the incumbents (by name) where he is registered.

And to each name he said "Yes".

The only thing that saved him, in my eyes, was that they were all CA Dems.
