About how Pakistani immigrants were arrested w/no evidence at all. Boston put on high alert for weeks based on a hoax, Miami 7 case actually provoked by FBI informant, etc.

7. I think sometimes they just want to put so much fear in the

American people, and will say or do anything, and be fearful of any Muslim looking person. Just my opinion. I give credit to that ex FBI lawyer to see how those agents were just putting words into those guys who they thought were terrorists.

5. Interesting

- Of 471 terrorism cases since 9/11, only 5% have resulted in actual terrorism charges.

- FBI agent says "JAL plot" has come closest to a real terrorist attack - JAL plot involves 4 members of a prison gang who robbed gas stations, nothing to do w/Al-Queda at all. No evidence of any effort to recruit Al-Queda in prisons, as FBI Director Mueller claimed.

- In threat assesment testimony before Congress, Negroponte only talked about two cases - Lodi & JAL prison gang.

Frontline is implying that the threat from "home-grown" terrorism is overblown.

I knew the Lodi case was bad but this is just
untenable. Its basically all one giant
belligerent entrapment attempt. Its unbelievable.

Of the two cases Negroponte described as the clearest "terrorist plots" within America, one is a gang of 4 gas station robbers, and one is a case of false confession. THAT'S IT? That's why we need to rescind habeas corpus, allow warrantless wiretaps, shred the Constitution, create enemy combatants, allow Bush unlimited power, allow Pentagon to spy on dissident groups etc. etc. etc? It was disturbing to see how the FBI informants basically tried to push people into criminal activity in both the Lodi & Miami 7 case. It almost seems like the FBI needed to create some "terrorists" to justify the massive expenditures & massive hysteria about terrorist plots. The Frontline documentary makes a convincing case that "the enemy within" is mostly a myth created by the government to justify over-reaching intrusions into privacy & civil liberties.
