Woman Who Had Baby With 14-Year-Old Boy Gets Probation
Dawn Fisher, the 33-year-old Swanton woman who gave birth to a 14-year-old boy's baby, was sentenced Tuesday to five years in community control -- with no jail time.

The sentence has some angry, while others are scratching their heads. This is especially true of the mother of the boy involved in this case. She's furious, but one local attorney says while no jail time may seem unfair for the crime committed, it's not surprising.

The boy's mother, Nicole Roberts, said, "She's ruined his life, period. She's ruined his life and now she's getting away with it."

Roberts says her son has been through hell, and she can't understand why Fisher won't have to spend a single day behind bars. "The man would be put away the day the DNA came back," she said. "Why can't she?"

1. She is a child molester
I'm sick of the double standard applied to women in these cases.
She belongs in prison.

3. My brother was molested by his 6th grade teacher
She got probation, although she wasn't allowed to ever teach again. I agree, it's a double standard.

12. Seducing him was bad enough. Having that baby made it even worse.

5. Has she had her cushy hour-long interview show on NBC yet?
That's Lauer's MO when it comes to statutory rapists who happen to be female, after all.

7. So much for equality under the law between genders
Elsewhere I read she has custody of the child. Is his family paying child support? What about visitation?

Why does she even have her children anymore?

A male would be been in the slammer as soon as the DNA came back.

14. Prove it
The majority of teenage girls who get pregnant...the guy involved is several years older...usually in his mid-twenties. Most of these men never see the inside of a prison either.

Yes, this woman needs to be in jail. But saying that most men who have sex with teenage girls go to jail...it just ain't true.

8. Disgusting
It also disgusts me that more of my fellow feminists don't fight against this injustice. Equality and all of that...granted people that support this BS aren't feminists in any sense of the word.

I am sick of sexism, any type of sexism!

10. I *Would* Say Jail Wouldn't Serve Anyone
But it's even more disturbing that this woman gets to walk around and be the female role model for three kids. They have my deepest sympathy.

13. Some DU poster was trying to make pseudo-feminist arguments for her,
saying that because she is a woman, and the act of sex involves male penetration (which is flawed view of sex and not always true), and she should therefore receive leniency.

What utter, total and complete fucking bullshit.

15. Sending people to prison isn't the only solution.
Although it is very, very popular in America, even among so-called progressives.

This woman will be subject to state authority for five years. I think people who howl for prison sentences for non-violent crimes like this betray a lack of imagination. Is that the only response we can come up with?
